#photobooksunday Fashion Magazine: Austin, Texas by Lise Sarfati.Cool shortlived concept of fashion focused books (or thick advert-free magazines) that gave primary creative control to the photographer. Lise Sarfati is probably my favourite portrait photographer, captures the subjects so tenderly. Everything feels like it's the beat after the reveal, the moment after the sting. Very poignant, but very stylish also.

Oasis is a rapid fire projection of double exposures, confusing the senses, and playing with linear time.

South Florida is a strange place for me. It is where I spent my early childhood. It was where my father and stepmother still live. I visit at least once a year. I haven't lived there in over 35 years but I dream of its landscape more so than any other. The murky canals and palms swaying. All the wild reptiles. As a child, I had so much fear of the natural world there. I still do. There's an energy there that radiates from the ground, something that feels so primal, so fundamental, that it borders on the supernatural.
All images are stills from 8mm film shot around Tampa, Florida and a long kayak ride down the Hillsborough River in January of 2016.

#photobooksunday Lick Creek Line by Ron Jude (Mack). A real turning point in how I saw the photobook as its own thing, as opposed to just being a monograph supporting an exhibition. An exercise in choice, adventure and losing your way. This was one of the three photobooks I bought in NYC that certainly influenced beginning Brown Owl Press. A-Jump, Ron's book imprint was a big influence too. 🦉
