                    𝐬𝐡𝐞  𝐜𝐚𝐧'𝐭  𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐞  𝐡𝐨𝐰  𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡  𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭  𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬  𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐞  𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐲  𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 ,  but  she  gets  there .     hands  shove  into  zip - up  sweatshirt’s  pockets ,  inside  of  cheek  is  chewed  on .          ❝  inside ,  ❞          she  repeats  softly ,  bangs  quick  to  cover  her  eyes .     that  is  absolutely  the  last  place  she  wants  to  keep  her  heart ,  not  when  nancy’s  is  so  close  --  but  she  holds  herself  back ,  uses  her  far - from - perfect  poker  face  ( made  even  less  useful  by  the  fact  that ,  even  if  it  was  a  good  one ,  nancy  can  see  right  through  her  anyways ,  even  if  sarah’s  trying  her  damndest ) .     eyes  glance  away ,  glaze  over  slightly ,  a  last  ditch  attempt  at  preserving  any  sense  of  her  own  dignity .     she  swallows ,  takes  a  second ,  looks  back  at  nancy .          ❝  i - i  mean ,  if  that’s  what  you  want ,  nancy .  ❞          god  knows  that  sarah  doesn’t  want  it ,  wouldn’t  want  it ,  but  this  sort  of  thing  is  about  as  far  from  a  one - way  street  as  you  can  get .
