From BCP President Russell Olivera Jr.: âWhat a beautiful & rainy day, today I sat all day in an on and off again rainy Oregon day at the 2nd annual Silverton Pride, I was the coordinator for Brush Creek Playhouseâs Booth which I & BCP Shared with my friends and my other new passion âConfluenceâ the LGBTQ chorus I belong too, and have made some great friends with.
Now, after running my LGBTQ nonprofit âQBlissâ for over 20 years, have seen and been a part of way to many pride events, but todayâs was different for me. I spent it with theater and chorus friends, real friends, in an environment that I am lucky to call home.
Despite the rain, we did amazingly good, we had an incredible almost full booth area full of costumes and hats etc. to play dress up with and take pictures with, this project was put together and set up and taken apart by my friend & fellow BCP boardmember and our BCP Costumer, Poppy Shell, she handled it all! My friend (Reanna) Lorelei O'Connor also on our BCP Board, came and spent most of the day manning our booth and sharing the love of theatre, my friends Kris Dahl Mitchell , a Talented actress with BCP came and sat with us and her hand made with love crocheted items in which attendees could buy and BCP would benefit from.
My friend Mary Barta, who is in both BCP & Confluence, along with fellow Confluence Chorus friends Kieran Blake & Autumn Wright who is a board member of confluence in which I am also now a board member of too. All sat , spoke, shared, and promoted our two outstanding nonprofits, what a fun group & outstanding lovers of our community nonprofit arts programs, we rocked it today in the rain too! We also were visited by BCP members and board members Pamela Druliner Russell, Howard Russell, Sage Sinclair, Michele Dahlum, Ina Linthwaite & Friend and member of both groups Kira Kinney!
We truly had a blast and promoted our groups, events and stories of our joyful experiences. BCP raised over $100 in donations, not sure how much Confluence raised, both groups gained a bunch of new email list sign upâs and even a few new faces to become part of our groups or even volunteer, it was a successful event for us both and we loved sharing the space! These wonderful people were the sunshine I needed on this great big pride day! Thank you all for being rays of light!
So proud of our work, our communities, our drive, our passion and our own pride! Luv & hugz to my friends at Brush Creek Playhouse & Confluence!â
