hi sorry to ask ab the felted mask again 💔but that was super helpful! i forgot last time 2 ask what the back of the mask was supported by or if you just left the felt on its own

im considering using a foam backing 🤔🤔

That's the foam dome shape I was mentioning, it encircles the top of the head all the way around. Lower is the neck fabric. (Brushy is unlined, I use a balaclava to protect the foam and fabric.)

i love your felted bird fursuit head! i was wondering if you could tell me a little about the process like did you use a foam base or 3d printed and how did you attatch the felt??

Hello! The base is the corvid base made by Moonborn Studio, and then there's more of a traditional foam dome structure to the top of the head. I felted on to acrylic "felt" material and did a combination of hot glueing and felting right into the foam.

I have some progress shots of the initial pinning and shaping; everything was pretty free-form except for a pull over neck pattern. (The neck is felted them sewn.)

Initially I wasn't going to do a jaw, I was nervous about being enclosed, but to my delight, 3D printed bases are quite breathable!

Two recent hat commissions headed to their homes! These were both very different from my usual hats; I loved the challenge and the unique, colorful results.
