*Inhales*. Alright. So, a while ago, I was just skimming through the solangelo critical tag, aaandd:
Seriously? Across the pjo-hoo-toa continuum Wil genuinely doesn't have enough personality to warrant a ripping-off. The family dinner we had last night has more personality than your fave shoelace ever did.
2. Will genuinely does not change, nor is he called out for it. Leo is called out for his disrespectful behaviour towards women, particularly his girlfriend Calypso. I don't like Caleo, but it's an important reference.
Ignoring the fact that Leo was asked and encouraged to show respect, called out for his behaviour, and showed signs of change is extremely bad faith behavior. It was late, and one can complain about how late it was. But pretending they Will and Leo are even remotely comparable in this facet of character writing is just abominable.
3. It's wrong of Leo to shame someone for not being masculine, but there's reason for that: he didn't grow up in environments which promoted healthy behaviour about gender roles. I don't want to be that person, but while Leo's behaviour warrants desire for change, the cherry-picking is monumental here - Will Solace, A MEDIC of all people, exhibits deeply ableist attitudes, and never grows out of the same. (He calls Octavian an anemic loser, and asks Nico to get his head of that brooding cloud of his. And I haven't even detailed his ableist attitudes in ToA yet).
4. Also, we aren't upset "because Will won't just let Nico die". Here's an amazing post by @percabeth4life detailing the Will problems.
If you thought this was bad, here are the tags on the post:
And,I can't stop ROFL. Hon, some of the most beloved ships of the Solangelo critical cohort are Percico, Jasico, Valdangelo etc.
Percy, Jason and Leo have issues as characters (they're written by Riordan after all 💀), who all have a lot more personality than Will ever did and trust me, the last thing we need is a cardboard cutout ruining the second-half of Nico ships.
The fact that you misinterpreted Leo, a canon character who was an indispensable pillar of the Seven, and actually had depth despite his flaws as a character and person, tells me all that I really need to know about your engagement with media. Maybe take a look at the mirror once in a while?
All in all, my reaction reading that post and it's tags was:
