I am thinking and growing every single day. It helps so much to vomit all my thoughts and feelings. So here is the thought ball I like to throw out every couple of months.

Lately I've been thinking about how I become passionate about things so quickly. It's like a fire catching a curtain on fire in a home and within a couple of hours the whole house is a blazing furnace of that original curtain. This to me is one of my favorite things about myself. My passion easily exceeds that of those surrounding me. But I've noticed something. I look at the masters I love of each craft, and expect to be a master so quickly in the beginning. It's hard to get my mind to realize that to master a medium of expression, it takes time, practice, and patience. It's just too hard for me to sit back and enjoy the journey. I've specifically noticed this in my study of art and design. I want so bad to be a master that i forget that I've blazed a trail for myself in a matter of 3 months that if I had seen back then my jaw would drop. I have to stop and soak up how much i'm progressing. I guess it's a good thing that my natural tendency is to always look ahead at how i can improve. But it's a blinder to my skill set I have at hand.

My point is, that i need to balance myself. There's a good balance of appreciating what and who you are and striving to be more. What I really need to stop doing is looking at those around me and comparing. I compare SO DAMN MUCH. I drive myself mad comparing my work to others. I need to compare myself to myself. What did I do? what could I have done better? I wish i could take my pride and just remove it from my body. I really do hate it. I could then celebrate other's accomplishments while celebrating my own without comparing them to other's.

Random thoughts on creativity

Creativity is not something you just have inside and vomit into the world. It is a process. It is living in the world of the unknown and allowing it to change you as much as you change it. It is a collaboration, not a competition. It is humbling yourself to the ideas and creations of others and making new things that again can be humbled to the ideas of others. Allowing yourself to be below others allows you to get the upper hand. Let others have the light and learn from them because the minute you let go of your ego is the minute you're one step ahead.

Don't give up on the game just because you think someone else is better because someone will always be better. Let your art and creativity be organic. Let it be you, because someone is out there marveling at your creations right now.

Measure your success by your happiness. Be grateful for the projects you have rather than reaching for new ones

Act like a beginner. You only look like an ass when you put effort into looking like an expert. Do expert work, but don't act like one. Stop trying to look like a professional. Accept that you're always a novice to the ever changing ebb and flow of fashion, popularity, and design. Instead of acting like you know, investigate what you don't. Ask questions. watch tutorials. When you come at things as a beginner, you'll always learn something.

The reward isn't praise; it's in the happiness of your work. Put as much energy into perfecting your work as you do worrying if it's good enough. There's no rush to getting good. Take pleasure in the process.

Grab today and revel in it, because one day you'll be 40 wishing you had done so in your 20s.
