Can I please hear more about the brynth arranged marriage au? I want to know how it escalates
So Trollex is initially against the idea at first, especially because he knows that Synth has dreamed of his wedding for years and now he won't get the wedding of his dreams. Beat Drop Button pointed out that they can't reject the offer though. If they reject it, there's a chance none of the other tribes will agree. If all the tribes say no, they can't just go back to Barb and be like "Okay nevermind, we'll take it."
Synth and Trollex go to meet Barb in person and synth is so nervous to meet Branch that he suggests they meet at the alter. Barb thinks it's weird but considering she thinks the wedding is a game of chicken, she don't really care.
Barb says not to worry about the wedding, they'll take care of everything, but Synth insists he wants to help. This leads to Barb having to go back and forth between Branch and Synth, since Synth won't meet with Branch. Barb thinks Synth might go all the way to the vows before he calls it all off, so she's making plans for the reception because why waste all that cake and food?
Some of Branch's friends get assigned to help Synth with things, such as Amy Lee being assigned as Synth's dress maker. In this AU, Synth's dress isn't decorated with anything Techno, as Amy Lee designed her idea of a royal wedding dress and Synth was too nervous to tell her to change it.
Synth's nerves are growing, and it's not helped that Rock weddings are like nothing Synth has come to expect. He starts asking around what Prince Branch is like and everyone has nice things to say about him. Amy Lee tells Synth that Branch is loved by everyone, Hilt describes him as the perfect Rock Troll, etc etc. Synth feels slightly better about the situation because this Branch guy sounds really nice.
The Techno Trolls receive their aid and Trollex considers taking Synth and sneaking out of the city and running for Techno Reef, but Synth insists they honor their word. Barb ends up coming to their temporary residence and has a "Wow, you're still here?" moment because now would have been the perfect time to run off.
The day of the wedding comes and it's hosted in a castle outside of the city (Rock Trolls have castles for the aesthetics). Synth is very nervous as his attendants get him ready, staring at his reflection in the broken mirror of his dressing room. He doesn't recognize himself in his giant black gown and veil, and he only just barely talked them out of doing his makeup.
Branch tries to come by but Amber chases him off, telling him it's bad luck to see the bride.
The wedding starts and Synth walks down the aisle and up the steps to the altar. Seeing Branch is odd because this is his HUSBAND. Forever. And he's JUST meeting him.
Synth is struggling to do the vows because his memory sucks and he's stressed so it's very hard to repeat back what he's supposed to. Barb and Branch are waiting for him to back out but he doesn't. Barb gets to the "And if anybody objects to this wedding, speak now or forever shut your mouth". They pause. No one speaks up. Barb goes "Dead ass? Alright, well, you two are now married. Kiss or something."
The kiss is very awkward, just a little peck on the lips, and then they're married. Barb thinks "Oh okay he's going to start a fight at the reception and then immediately divorce Branch. Theatrical, I love it."
At the reception, Synth is very awkward with Branch and vise versa. They're sitting at the head table.
"We're married now... it's nice to meet you."
Eventually they're able to get a conversation sorta going about themselves and the reception wraps up.
Barb is confused and is like "Wow this is a crazy game of chicken."
Branch takes Synth back to the house and shows him the guest room until he can get his room set up for 2 people.
The next day Amy Lee comes over to help Synth get dressed up fancy-like for his trip around the city where he's introduced as the new Prince of Rock.
Branch is walking Synth around and is like "So why'd you want to get married to me anyway?"
Synth is confused like "What do you mean? You guys are the ones who told me to marry you."
And Branch is like "Yeah as a joke. We were waiting for you to take the aid and run or call off the wedding dramatically but you just... got married anyway. Why'd you go through with it?"
And Synth freezes and is like "That was a joke?"
Branch is like "Obviously. Surely Barb told you that was a joke among Rock Trolls."
"No! No she did not yo! I didn't have to marry you?!"
Synth is very upset and Branch is like "Don't worry, when we go on stage later you can just divorce me."
Synth is like "I couldn't embarrass you like that! Who divorces a Troll they just married?"
"People who didn't want to get married in the first place. It's fine."
They go on stage and Branch is gesturing at Synth to do it but Synth can't bring himself to divorce Branch so publicly and without even giving him a shot. Maybe Branch is a good husband!
Synth ends up staying and eventually falling in love with Branch. They eventually renew their vows and give Synth the wedding of his dreams.
