This very handsome good boy will be in Oregon next week doing his part in making a litter of standard sized Habibibears. Hank is already a father, and we’re lucky enough that his daughters are actually in our life (my mom has one and friends have the other). Selfishly I want all the puppies to be in my life forever so I can know and love them, like I do Hank. SO, if you’ve been waiting for the rare standard sized Hank-dog to be available again, now is your chance. Hank is the most intuitive, respectful, loyal, and loving dog. We currently have a 7 month old who loves to throw entire lamb chops and drumsticks and all kinds of food on the floor, and Hank literally leaves it. Dreaming of Bird Season... Hank will sit and stare and “beg” (by way of sitting and staring) at that jar of pheasant and turkey feathers for hours and days. We do occasionally give him one, which he bats around and tosses in the air and plays with like a kitten, but on all the other days he sits and stares and dreams of bird season. September 1st is just around the corner and hopefully we’ll get him on some Dove 🕊

Today kicks off World Breastfeeding Week. I feel so lucky to have exclusively breastfed Clarke for the six weeks of her life (photo from her first month of life). Breastfeeding is a journey, and very rarely (from what I know/hear) an uneventful one. Ours has looked different throughout these last six weeks, from tongue and lip ties to nipple shields, and milk savers for heavy let down, testing every position under the sun to frustrating (for everyone) latch work, and it’s still been a total dream to share this with my daughter and I’m so lucky to have abundant milk, and a supportive partner, and to be able to surround myself with a community who makes this all feel normal and ok. Thank you all! “You’ll forget about the dog once the baby comes” “Just wait, he’ll be so neglected” “It’ll be different when you have a real baby” “He’ll probably hate the baby at first because you’ll have no time for him” As a dog mom, the list of warnings about Hank before Clarke arrived was endless. They meant well, but they were all so so wrong. It’s been 4 weeks, and this is still one of my favorite views to wake up to. My love for Hank has only grown as I’ve gotten to share this experience with him, and witness his tenderness, cautiousness, and care for Clarke and I. He’s had no less than two walks everyday, including the day we came home, and some of those walks and play romps have been just the two of us, and I’ve treasured them as much as he has. He loves when the stroller comes out, and on the occasion that Clarke and I return home early, he wraps up his play and trots home all on his own. I can confidently say no number of “real children” will lessen my love and bond for Hank. He’ll forever be my first baby, and I’ll always have time for him. I wish this love for everyone.

One week ago today we welcomed Clarke Rose Sockolov to our family. She was born on 06.20.18 at 12:29 pm, a strong 7 lbs, 8 oz and 19.5” long. We are so in love, I can’t believe a week has already flown by, and do not have a single complaint. The Midwives and Nurses we worked with at Marin General were incredible and after days of laboring and throwing up and eventually pitocin to dilate because Clarke was engaged looking to the right (but no longer breech - thank god), I don’t think I could have made it all the way through without narcotics or an epidural if not for the support and care from @willsockolov and our delivery team. We are all doing very well and soaking up every minute and it’s just surreal she’s finally here. Even Hank is obsessed already. #welcomebaby #oneweekold #redheadanddogandbaby
