Update:

It has been a bit of a hectic week, and sadly I have not had time to read...much. From what I have read I can tell you two very important details: 1) Lestate is a vampire. Oddly, the dead give away is not his pale skin, or fangs, but his nails. Lestat who is describing his vampiric features says they look like glass. Big shout out to Anne Rice for coming up with something even more creative than sparkling.  2) Lestat is definitely a rock god. After being a dormant vampire for quite a long time, under the earth of New Orleans. He begins to hear the sounds of rock and roll. Somewhere in the next few months or so the sound of rock wakes him up, and pulls him to the surface where he emerges. He is no longer sleeping like a rock, and will go on to have a tour, an MTV video constant loop, and tons of screaming fans. I say it was fate.’

Lady Midnight

I wanna have a truth moment. I am firmly devoted to Jace and the rest of the Lightwoods. I won’t even reread the Infernal Devices because of this, but I feel my devotion wavering. 

Cassandra Clare has written a masterpiece. I feel like she pulled so many unknown tricks and surprises throughout this book. I could not put it down because on every page something happened, or something was introduced, and I had to read more. 

I will not go into detail because the book is newly published, and I don’t want to get in the habit of posting spoilers, but if you have not read this book yet, read it.

Shadowhunters: For Those Living Under a Rock

In honor of Lady Midnight making a much awaited appearance I thought I would make my blogging debut with one theme in mind; Shadowhunters. If you are not a fan of Urban Fantasy, are a pure bred Mundane, have never heard of Cassandra Clare, or have been living under a book deprived rock (which must be true if you relate to any of the aforementioned conditions) this post is a must read. 

What is a Shadowhunter?

Shadowhunter- is a secretive race of mortals, who also have angel blood, and were appointed by the angel Raziel to fight demons, and protect the world from such demons. Aren’t they so sweet. They are also called Nephilim. 

What makes a Shadowhunter different from a mundane?

As I said before a shadowhunter has angel blood, and that makes them special in a way. Besides their very sacred and holy mission, the shadowhunters are able to mark themselves with runes that give them special powers. They can heal instantly, have increased speed and agility, and even make themselves invisible. The coolest tattoos ever!!

Can a mundane become a Shadowhunter?

Shadowhunters became a dying race after two devastating wars that nearly wiped them out. The silver lining in this morbid tale is that they have the mortal cup. The Mortal Cup is the cup that Jonathan Shadowhunter (creator of the shadowhunter race) mixed his blood with the blood of the angel Raziel, and drank from it. Thus the beginning of our favorite tattooed warriors.

In the event that the shadowhunter race begins to die out specific humans can undergo test and trials to become a shadowhunter, and then drink from the mortal cup. Not everyone can do it, and the runes placed can prove fatal, but if you are strong enough to withstand; a mundane can become a shadowhunter. Let’s be honest, we all want to be a shadowhunter.
