I remembered going out from a mosque here in Mostar after Maghrib prayer, and walked into a graveyard just outside of the mosque. These are the graves of those who have died defending their community during the 1991-1995 war.

I noticed there are some writings on one of the tombstone written in Bosnian. I immediately knew it is a Quran translation as the quote ended with a number.

Yet in a Hadith Qudsi, Allah said, “I have prepared for My righteous servants what no eye has seen and no ear has heard, nor has it occurred to the human heart.”

It’s astounding how much emphasis the Quran put on helping the poor and orphans. Yet, we are still living in a world with so many poor people and unhelped orphans, especially in Islamic countries.

There’s something fundamentally wrong here.

Be grateful! Cos none of it is ours anyway. We belong to Him, and only to Him will we return.
