i can see her being the student who gets by pretty okay without studying in most classes, but tanks it if there's one that doesn't come easily to her because she doesn't know how to study. i think she's the kind of person who retains a lot of info when she's interested in a subject but doesn't love school for the sake of school. the girl who got pissed at the sphinx for making her take a pointless scantron test?? she is going to be put off by the arbitrariness and the flaws in the education system. she is not going to excel at it for the sheer love of the game. the hermione-ification of annabeth has always bothered me in fanon and i am not endeared by rick adopting it in cotg
