beinG an arab transfem on the side of the internet that is very much western (i mean this is tumblr come on) kinda really really fuckinG sucks i Gotta say. ESPECIALLY as someone who is not reliGious whatsoever
i was raised reliGious but that didn't pan out for several reasons and due to my upbrinGinG i try as hard as possible to avoid any lanGuaGe that may lead to someone assuminG i am reliGious.
...unfortunate that is like. the entire arabic lanGuaGe. white people cannot see arabic or arab people or the mention of an arab country without their minds immediately GoinG to islam. often do i see posts with arab writinG or featurinG arabic people and white people in comics will be sayinG "mashallah" and it kinda makes my blood boil? imaGine if every time a white person posted somethinG in enGlish a flock of people would Go to the comments and say "amen christ is lord".
what really pisses me off is when speakinG enGlish non reliGious people are free to say "jesus christ" however and whenever without anyone assuminG that they're reliGious but i can't say a sinGle thinG in arabic without people assuminG i Go to mecca yearly.

i've kinda had to distance myself from arab culture all toGether in fear of beinG seen as reliGious and transphobic or whatever other insane assumptions people make about us and it makes me really sad lookinG back on it. yeah most people are probably not callinG us terrorists online anymore but this is not really that Great either. i've had people i've been mutuals with for years assume that i'm white due to how much i don't acknowledGe who i am
