I was so fortunate to be commissioned by TLDragon for this wonderful piece of Amaterasu from Okami!  We went through a bunch of ideas, settling tentatively on this super red saturated sunset piece.  I’m really glad we did, I’m so pleased with the final result! What’s the deal with Himiko and the Heavenly Superperson? Like, is she his regeant? His wife? His daughter? Is the emperor a puppet emperor? Like Himiko “rules over all of Nippon” but…there’s an emperor for that?

Like, I get that no one is really sure Himiko actually existed as a ruler of Japan, bit why is she ruling alongside the emperor here? Aren’t queens and kings below emperors and empresses usually?

Once more, Okami confuses me. DA spoiled me, man, I need a codex for this shit.

I always assumed she was the Emperor’s wife, and that she was the real intelligence behind the throne given how the Emperor seems much more interested in demon fangs than politics but idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I thought that the emperor was just a figurehead, and the queen was the real ruler. She's based off of an actual queen (first female ruler of Japan I think) so that would make sense.
