i think about this one section of spassky's letter to president bush all of the time

Boris noticed everything so accurately, and this letter clearly shows the warmth with which he treated Bobby. However, it is a pity that Bobby himself was rather rude about this letter.

(Although it was hard to expect any other reaction, after all, this was Fischer.)

curious - how did everyone become interested in chess or more specifically grandmasters? did you start with just the game itself first, or did you go a different route?

(for me, fischer in particular had been the "face claim" of one of my characters for a long time before i really became fascinated with chess LOL. in october '25 i went through a pretty rough patch in life and ended up obsessively watching interviews from fischer as a way to keep myself occupied...my interest in him directed me to learning about other players)

For me, it all started with Fischer, and I was incredibly attracted to his appearance. After that, I became more interested in his biography and delved deeper into chess history.

In general, my story is not much different from yours.
