Thinking of a Yandere who finds their Darling years after they managed to somehow escape them.
All of those years trying to figure out how their Darling could have possibly ran away, what they could have done to make them stay, the life they could have been living if they had stayed.
The sleepless nights wondering where their Darling went, who they were with, what they were doing, how they were, oh the questions were endless.
Everyday searching, looking through old social media waiting for a new post that could indicate their location, going to places their Darling frequented before, even stalking people close to their Darling to get even a clue.. yet nothing, it's like they had just vanished into thin air.
They counted every second, every minute, every hour, every day, every month and single every year that their Darling was away from them, feeling like a lost dog with no purpose now that their Darling was gone.
Well that was until they spotted them, at first, they barely believed their eyes, it must be an illusion, it must have been a cruel trick by their mind.. but no, there they were, their precious Darling, alive and well, just as beautiful as they remembered.
The Yandere's mind already had plans to take them back, how to take them, to memorize their routine and to snatch them away just at the right time but then they paused, when they really got a good look at their Darling, they were happy, happier than they had ever been with them, that's for sure.
Their Darling was happy, so happy with this life, not looking like that scared animal that the Yandere had known when they were with them, they had always dreamed of them feeling this happiness with them.. yet now they watched as their Darling felt what they had dreamed of for years without them.
They couldn't bare to take that happiness off their face, couldn't handle the idea of making their Darling miserable once more when they clearly had found themselves a new, joyous life.
They had been selfish once.. so perhaps it was time to be the selfless one now and finally let them go.
So after that, they just watched from afar, even if their heart ached watching their Darling so happy without them, the envy that filled their heart as they watched their Darling with others.. yet, they didn't do anything.
Love was about sacrificing after all.. and even if it hurt, deep down, they knew they wouldn't feel fulfilled either if they were to once again, cruelly snatch their Darling away from a life they loved.
Their Darling's happiness was what mattered and that was enough for them to be happy too.
This game is an AMAZING way to explore so many issues related to censorship.
People need to understand what this game actually was, what happened, and what the impact is...
...And God knows I am not the best person to do it lol. But I have to at least try.
Let's explore this situation step-by-step:
(Part 1) What is the game and what do people think it is?
Firstly, here's a slightly-shorter summary of the whole sequence of events:
A company made a pornographic visual novel where the player seduces their stepmom. A full year passes.
They publish it on Steam with a more provocative description.
Some Australian assholes notice it. They actively LIE about the game in order to anger people
Controversy erupts. People repeat these claims without checking, calling for the game to be banned
Three countries rapidly ban the game: Australia, Canada, and the UK
The game is taken down from Steam. But it's not over yet...
These Australian assholes use this attention and widespread anger as the perfect excuse to get more games removed
They contact every major "payment processor" (think Visa, Mastercard, Paypal, etc) and tell them that Steam is hosting rape and incest simulators, using this as an example
These payment processors order Steam (and others) to remove offensive content. Note that without the support of payment processors, Steam would fail almost overnight
Hundreds of games are removed from Steam and other online platforms. Their rules are updated to prevent controversial content in the future.
Many of the games that end up being affected are actually extremely mild - but no one wants to take the risk.
A tiny group of pathetic, manipulative, pearl-clutching busybodies and liars managed to take a single unpopular game and then use it as leverage to radically reshape what content we are allowed access to.
For this first part, I'll give a detailed summary of points #1, through #3 above - what the game was, and how it was misrepresented:
Here's the full sequence of events (as best I can tell):
2024: An obscure developer named "Zerat Games" is already publishing episodic content for what appears to be their first game - a pornographic visual novel. At this point, it appears to be entitled "ZG Collection."
March 2025: Their strategy starts to change. They begin to rebrand the game (or perhaps one of the specific episodes? It's surprisingly hard to find very early references) as "No Mercy".
By this point, the plot was already pretty well-established:
They publish it on several additional sites, including Steam. But they make some minor changes and additions to the descriptions, making it sound intentionally more provocative:
Look closely - you can see that they changed the phrasing from "step-mother" to "mother," which is a concept that sounds vastly more offensive to the average people. There is also slightly more of a focus on blackmail and force.
And it's at this point that an Australian organization named "Collective Shout" catches wind of the game. Ideologically, this group is specifically anti-pornography, and have been successfully campaigning for tighter restrictions on it.
I imagine that Collective Shout must have felt like they had absolutely STUCK GOLD here. No Mercy had been published on the world's largest game-distribution platform, and they might be able to convince the public that the game was so indefensible it needed to be legally and commercially banned. And if they could successfully get one game banned, they knew they'd be able get others banned as well.
Zerat Games had already done some of the work for them with their poorly-thought out description, but it still needed a little push...
So, as far as I can tell, Collective Shout just lied:
If this full text was ever in any promotional material for the game, I haven't seen it, nor have I seen any screenshots. Listen, I'm no expert here, I could absolutely be wrong here. But personally, I strongly suspect that Collective Shout fabricated this text in order to anger people.
Notice how their new description incorporates the original text, while changing and adding parts. Notice that they add considerably more "rapey" descriptions: "since that's the only thing they all want. Never take 'no' for an answer." Notice how it they explicitly refer to "your own mother" and tell you to "Fuck your mom." This seems specifically designed to grab people's attention and infuriate them.
The claims were extreme, while being easy to understand and explain. The quotes and "evidence" were short, memorable, and damning. It was perfectly designed for the modern Tik Tok-style of spreading outrage.
In the next post on this subject, I'll discuss what exactly happened as a result of this.
"Yeah, my room it's full of loli figures, loli posters, thousands of merch of loli media and i even have an body pillow with a loli on it, but it's okay! I only have it because it's cute, not because i'm a lolicon... Also my interests are Madoka Magica, Lucky Star, Nekopara, Kobayashi Dragon Maid and almost every loli anime or game you can imagine, but it's because they're cute animes I swear!! And i love loli characters, but only because they have cute designs and they're adorable..... But I'm not a lolicon I SWEAR I'M NOT A LOLICON"
It's crazy to me how there are people that genuinely think a sexual abuse survivor can't have sex. Like, not even just fictional characters, real people as well.
You know what else is a shame? This nowadays tendency of putting on the author the responsibility of teaching their readers morality.
Authors are allowed to write morally ambiguous characters.
Authors are allowed to write downright despicable characters - and guess what they are even allowed to make despicable characters charismatic and likeble and the protagonists of their stories if they wish - because absolute monsters exist only under the bed.
It is not up to the author to spoonfeed the readers about morality and Yes I know this character did a bad thing and I am going going to show it in the story and make other characters call them out of it and– Bullshit.
The authors should be able to write what they want without having thousands of people jumping and their throats claiming to know them, their ideas and their morality based on what they write.
It’s not up to the author to teach you about what is right and what is wrong.
꒰𓈒♪˚ॱ𓏽ֺּׅᣟ teachers who genuinely don't care about the subject they're teaching and does nothing but give a bunch of useless workloads to students for the whole school year
