Meanwhile James is doing something dumb. Both James and Lily look at him in shock and start laughing.

first year marauders getting ready for their first day, remus standing in front of the mirror with a tie hanging around his neck looking clueless, and peter with his clammy hand, his own tie crooked, trying to help, sirius and james rolling their eyes at them and stepping in like their saviours, james teaching peter how to tie a tie step by step, while sirius reaching over and tying remus’ himself, through it all remus looks anywhere but sirius, and by the time sirius finishes and steps back, both of them are faintly pink in the cheeks, and remus can only manage a small ‘thanks’

remus keeps track of sirius’ schedule better than sirius does and just shows up places like “you’re supposed to meet lily at the restaurant” and sirius doesn’t even question it he just goes “oh right” because of course remus knows
