It’s over...

It’s the saddest thing I have to say but Cocotte is dead today.

She had two other stroke in the night and in the afternoon. The last one was too strong. She was in pain and the veterinary told me it was time to stop her suffering..I decided to stay with her for her last moment. It was quick and calm.. so strange and so sad to realize she was asking for hugs this morning and now she is gone...

As my husband said : we gave her the best life possible. She was in a family who didn’t know how to take care of her and abandoned her in a shelter. We take her there and gave her all the love of the world. She was with someone who love her until the end.

Some good news ☺️

I had to go to my parent’s to prepare the moving : my son will stay with them the D day. Meanwhile my husband came to see Cocotte at his mom’s place (we let her there for avoiding her some stress and to be near the veterinary in case of emergency). He sent me that picture and gave me some news :

- She has appetite ! She didn’t loose weight and is even greedy 😊

- She takes her medicine very well (it seems she like the taste of it)

- she is still too weak to jump in her little box. My husband told me he cut an entrance in it to help her, now she doesn’t have to jump to go to pee !

- she asks for hugs a lot ! She came to him for being cuddled even with her difficulties to walk. I think she might be scared to be abandoned once again when we let her at the veterinary’s (Cocotte came from a shelter)

- She is grumpy 😃 !! It might sound strange that I’m happy my bunny is grumpy but Cocotte always had a temper. When she had her stroke, it was like she didn’t care of anything and didn’t react when we touched her stuff.. it clearly means she is better !

- the best part : HER HEAD IS LESS TWISTED !!! Here a picture of the day she came back from the veterinary’s for you to compare with the picture my husband took :

In conclusion : the news are really good ! I was scared my little Cocotte never know our new house but she is clearly better ! I’m really optimistic ! We still have to be careful but I think she’s on a good way !

Hey there I know that you don't know me but I saw your post about your little bunny's stroke and wanted to say I know your pain. My best furry friend passed away a few years back and I still miss her. Your strength and patience with her reminded me of the bond I shared with my Penny before she passed. You are a strong woman and an amazing pet owner and I hope the time you two share together is very special. Have a great day!

Cocotte is back home 🙂

Few days ago, Cocotte had a stroke (which is extremely rare for a rabbit). She spent the last two days at the vet. She started to drink and eat by herself so we could take her back. That doesn’t mean she’s safe unfortunately.. the vet explained us that since she started to feed herself, he had no reason to keep her in his place. He can’t do more, everything depends on her now. She has a treatment for a month and her head will stay twisted for the rest of her life (which is not a problem according to the vet, many rabbits live a long life this way).

The good new is she was really happy to refind her home : the immediately ate and drank and she hugged me. But I’ve seen how much she’s weakened : she walks really slowly and with difficulty. She still can die at any moment.. at least she’s at her place..

My husband and I have to move to our new home. We’re leaving our apartment to a house. Cocotte will have a little garden there. But the moving might be really stressful for her. So we decided to let her at my mother-in-law’s place : my mother-in-law lives near the vet we saw and is retired, she’ll keep an eye on Cocotte until the moving is over. Of course I’ll come to visit my lil’ bun’ 😊

Bad news.. 😕

Cocotte had a stroke last night.

My husband and I woke up because of huge noise coming from her little house. We found her stretched out on the floor with her eyes rolling... My husband called the veterinary emergency while I tried to calm her and helped her to drink. Even stressed like she was, she kissed me.. At this moment I was sure she was telling me goodbye but she is strong. She is at the vet for now.. He told us the next 48 hours will be decisive. If she can’t eat or drink by herself, we’ll have to stop her suffering 💔... The only thing we can do is to wait.. I’m so worried..

The vet said we couldn’t predict it would happen to her but I feel sad and guilty anyway... We were at the vet a week ago to check her teeth and redoing her vaccin. She was okay and the vet was happy because she had an healthy weight. But Cocotte is old.. she is almost 8 years old, maybe more : I already explained it but Cocotte was adopted. The shelter she came from estimated her age.

If Cocotte’s life had to stop, I would find joy anyway in my sadness : she won’t finish her life in a cage, she’ll die knowing what a loving house is. She won’t be alone at the end. That’s why it’s so important to adopt..

If you read me and want an animal, please, adopt don’t shop.

Lil’ news !!

Sorry for being absent lately but I have a good reason : my baby is born a month ago 🙂 ! I need some rest to recover and I have to take care of my little boy :-) ! Don’t worry : Cocotte is okay ! She is jaleous as f*ck of my baby but she is fine (she hides herself each time my son and her are in the same room). Soon will be better for Cocotte : we are moving to a house and she’ll have more space :-) !

CANDYYYYYYYYY 🍭🤪 !!

I learned to her to go to the toilet with treats : each time she did in it, I congrat her with a candy. Now she is clean but she’s also a little cheater : she goes to her toilet and does nothing in it. Just to see if I’ll give her one 😅

We live in an apartment and she can’t have grass all the time. So I take treats which promote dental abrasion, really helpful with the hay to protect her teeth ! Her favorites are the red ones : beets flavor ☺️
