šøspent most of the book like, All possible explanations here are SUPER sci-fi, and this doesn't feel like a sci-fi book...

šøthe scene with the air vents had me this close to putting the book down to NEVER PICK UP AGAIN. (it was very scary.)
šøhonestly, this is a very exhausting book, but that is a merit.
Okay so graphic novels are gonna take me a while to get used to. BUT. This was SO FUCKED UP. I cannot picture it in any other medium.
Like, I thought Batman was pretty dark. The movie. But NONE of these characters could appear on screen because they are all SO disgusting.
ā24 Hoursā was honestly just like WHAT the fuck.Ā āA Hope in Hellā was probably one of my favourites, but Iām pretty sure that Fear trumps Hope and as a demon the strange pink dude should have known this. Like maybe notĀ ātrumpsā, but can at least go up against.

I swallowed this book whole in a day. It was exactly what I wanted to read. IĀ knowĀ this anger.
'It's very hard to be a woman sometimes.'
Specifically, there's no right way to be a woman. Every way is wrong. I think in some way we are all trying to find ourselves by stealing from other women; repeating the things they say and trying on their dresses. I think most of us are on some level genuine frauds?
Hopefully, it's not too cheap of a comparison to say that this novel has the thrill of a genderswappedĀ The Talented Mr. RipleyĀ with the icy and righteous fury ofĀ Gone GirlĀ combined to skewer a society that has betrayed us.
To be a physically powerful woman -- it was something. You could go anywhere, do anything, if you were difficult to hurt.
As the middle book in a trilogy, there's not a bunch I can say without spoiling things except YES GOOD WONDERFUL.
Leigh Bardugo's built such a complicated world, but it's so accessible and I am in awe.

Nesta 'Best Character' Archeron continues to live up to her name, and Mor's backstory made me cry because I thought I'd been projecting for three books but it turns out I CALLED IT AND MY DREAMS ARE NO LONGER JUST DREAMS. No spoilers.
Okay I'm done I love this series.
