The Star Trek we need...

Is Discovery, because Discovery is dope and I love it. But since studios are back in the habit of making Star Trek series, here’s my suggestion: DO A SERIES ABOUT THE MAQUIS To build a lil hype, see if the actors who played Chakotay, Torres or Ro Laren are down to do some cameos. They would probably be captains or admirals at this point, almost 20 years after the events of Voyager. They could even give Captain Worf some shine in a crossover episode. The Maquis of course would be the independent state based around something like 4 or 5 class-M planets located between Cardassian and Federation space, the former “Demilitarized Zone”. TNG and DS9 characterized these planets as having been uninhabited until people from Native American tribes moved there to preserve their cultures. The story goes, after being jerked around by the Federation and terrorized by the Cardassians, the Maquis was formed to resist Cardassian occupation. Given who these planets are mostly inhabited by, it would be impossible to do it justice without an Indigenous writing staff. Special request from me if somehow, something like this does get made: no white actors unless they’re playing Cardassians.
