Caught somewhere between, “I shouldn’t care” and why does it hurt so much?

“I can’t go to bed. Not until I’m exhausted. I can’t risk lying in the dark and having time to think, and regret, and feel, and think some more.”

July has been a hard month for every one. We are being drowned in propaganda 24/7; deprived of simple things like human touch; common sense and common courtesy is dead; society has taken on the vestments of antisocial behaviour restricting person choices, freedom of thought, the inability to move freely. Violent behaviour and bodily harm, verbal abuse and shaming is the ‘new norm’ in these ‘untested and trying times’ if one is not of the same think tribe. Daughter against mother, son against father, once friends are now foes; we are being conditioned and goaded into these morals (or lack there of).
But these ‘untested times’ are a falsehood. It has been tested. It has been done before. And … It is happening again. History has a strange way of repeating itself. Our classical and contemporary literature is full of such warnings but we sadly do not read nor comprehend. We are uneducated and non caring. We have become complacent, comfortably numb and willfully ignorant to what has been creeping stealthy upon us. We have taken for granted our personal and societal freedoms. We have turned a blind eye to the warnings. We have turned away from God and anything that resembles good … ‘its not really that bad’, ‘oh that’s so sad but doesn’t involve me’ or worse, ‘there is nothing I can do’, are often what we use to placate ourselves if the whisper of our conscious pricks us awake. We are lazy in our comfort bubble, swatting it way like an annoying fly instead of heeding the call to arise and become conscious. And that is how our new master likes it. You have willingly become a numb, non thinking slave. Our new master is at hand. We are no longer free men and women. Do we really care?
There is an Evil at hand and no one wants to look it in the face for fear of what they will see or worse, be shamed and berated for seeing the Evil and calling it by name (for that is not of the pc think tribe; Good is Bad. Bad is Good. Be like us or face our wrath). The mantras and talking points have been drilled into our psyche so now we can join the chorus of talking heads. Without thinking, we can repeat the mantras and feel proud that we are like the others. And in the process, we are loosing our individualism, our freedoms and our very souls. We have willingly put the shackles of slavery on ourselves for a few creature comforts, for the want to fit in, and for others, perhaps a sense of pretending they have power – content in the delusion.
We are no longer a civilized society but another cog in the machine, another brick in the wall, that will exclude and deny those that are different. There is no compassion, no understanding, no logic, no free thought nor debate or sharing of ideas – that is not to be tolerated nor allowed. We have allowed our children to be processed through these indoctrination institutions, fed a steady diet of the same in their extended programing (be it radio, tv, podcast social medias that they are immersed, saturated and marinated) and we have given away any sort of parental/ adult guidance because well ‘they are the experts and know better’. Our children are no longer ours but property, chattel of the state, pawns of the governments. And we sigh because its just too hard to buck the system and every generation is (fill in the blank here) as an excuse to why we can’t. We speak poorly of those that want to take responsibility over their lives and their children, not realizing (being the slaves we are) that they, those that resist and fight are the true heroes, those that have a spark of life and humanity still beating within their breast … they have not laid down in complacency. They have not put on the shackles of slavehood but rather are willing to rise up against the Evil and call it for what it is. They give the warning calls, the rally cries as a thousand voices rise against them. Can you hear them? Can you see them? Will you join them Or are you willing to lay down and die a slave? We all have choices. Some die protecting those choices of freedom while others die regretting the choice they did not make. Where are you? Slave? Or die fighting for your freedom and those generations to come…
Throwback that time that I made a Tiktok abt how it's kinda sexist to automatically assume that Girl Scouts do less outdoor/survival activities than the Boy Scouts do and I got flamed by almost the entire internet population of fragile teenage boys
This song. This particular verse. It reminded me how personal yet universal Malibu Nights as an album is. How it's the perfect example of turning your pain into art. And how that is its own source of healing. I'm just so immensely proud to be taken on their journey and being able to find pieces of myself in their songs.
