is the person who came close to getting that closeness w/ mingus tango? i know him and mingus have some weird bond/connection i'd love to hear more about but from the bits we Do have like him knowing about mingus' past and whatnot, i'd assume it was him? Unless it was somebody else....? 👀

It IS Tango, yes.

Tango and Mingus are a lot like oil and water. Both fundamentally crave a deeper partnership with the other (though she wouldn't admit it.) However, Tango's integrity makes it fundamentally impossible for her to give him any more authority than he already has. She trusts him with just about everything that she can trust him to do, but knows he will screw up any task that requires him to screw anyone else over. She even entrusts him with some responsibility caring for Crown (it's even in one of my unused game scene ideas), which she obviously wouldn't entrust ANY of the Mingling members with.

Mingus does have a fundamental respect for Tango's trustworthiness, but the irony is that she wants him to be the same person when he's dealing with her... while also worse to everyone else in service of her goals, something he's obviously unwilling to do. She views everything tangentially, of course, so her 'respect' for him is toxic. She LIKES him, relies heavily on him more than any single other person, but also doesn't respect his moral/personal autonomy.

There is something tangible there, but to connect with the Mingus we see in-game, Tango would essentially have to forfeit his soul.

She also had bigger plans for him once upon a time (and still wants to enact these plans before the end of the game,) but naturally, he'd need to change. Tango, meanwhile, hopes that his kindness will rub off on her if he's kind/supportive enough. They're each hoping to change the other and crave a more mutual partnership, but both also know that unless either one of them changes, it can't happen, which puts their relationship in a really weird spot.

I don't normally share fundraisers directly, but given how much work they've contributed to DT, it's the least I can do.

Stringer, who drew DT's title screen, ending slides, Steam trading cards + a lot of the art in the basegame is unfortunately very sick and they've asked for help covering expenses this month. It's not my place to give any information more than they've shared, but I can personally confirm that the situation is fairly dire.

They silently suffered quite badly with their health during the production of Dialtown and unfortunately, things have worsened considerably in recent months.

Stringer's been a fantastic friend to me for many years and has done a lot of work for DT. Along with me and Nathan, Stringer has contributed by far the most to the game out of anyone. I know it might be a bit much asking so soon after the plushie launched, but if anyone here is able to contribute, it'd go a long way. Thanks, everyone.
