A Western Whump Story

Hunted, wounded, and certain he won't survive another sunrise, a shackled man risks his life to save a widow from a violent attacker—only to find himself taken in and given the first safety he's known in years.

Warning: This will get very whumpy (in the best possible way) and there will be no cutting away from the hurt or comfort scenes. Adult themes may be touched upon in this story, these moments will be written with care and not gratuitous.

Part 1: In the Shadows - Hiding in a barn and barely clinging to consciousness, Wyatt is shackled, wounded, and running out of strength. When brutality erupts before him, instinct overpowers fear and the cost of that choice leaves him vulnerable and at the mercy of what comes next.

Part 2: A Light Across the Floor - In the aftermath of violence, Sarah is left with a shackled stranger bleeding on her barn floor. In the lantern light, fear loosens its grip, and compassion takes its place.

Part 3: The Shape of Darkness - Carried out of the cold and into the firelight, Wyatt’s true condition is finally revealed. As Sarah and her sister, Ruth, work to bathe and warm him, fear gives way to care, and every gentle touch uncovers just how much he has endured.

Part 4: A Quiet Made of Light - In a fevered state lost between pain and memory, Wyatt clings to a steady voice and gentle hands as comfort slowly pulls him back into the light.

I do not mean to dump so many stories out there. I guess I’m trying to organize my google docs. I hope I don’t overwhelm anyone. This story marinated in my mind for so long after reading @secretwhumplair’s The Monster of Lindborough. Oh my goodness, that story gave me the whumperflies so bad (or good, I should say)! This story is my thanks to the whump community for the many rainy Sunday mornings that I had nothing to do and found a wonderful whump story to read.

May has been a sheep shearer in the mountains for twenty years now after she left her home in the seaside. After losing her sled to a friend, May is gifted a slave who comes to her sick and numb. May must either become his ally or continue turning a blind eye to the abuse the slave suffers at the hands of her village. Story line exists but is very whump focused.

Masterlist: Sin of Purity, Purity of Sin

Kiri learned from a young age to keep her head down; Anden knows the key to his survival is to never back down from a fight. But when they are chosen to serve as the next year's sacrifice to the god Vato in the yearly Midsummer's Day ritual, they'll need to work together if they want to escape their fate.

Part I - Kiri is brought before the High Priest Emitis and consecrated to serve as the coming year's Vessel of Purity.

Part II - Anden begins to learn the painful way what it means to be the Vessel of Sin.

Part III - As Kiri is prepared for her first Holy Day procession, she struggles with the knowledge that her actions have consequences.

Part IV - The physical pain that Anden has been made to endure is nothing compared to the emotional pain of public humiliation.

Watch your kingdom die. Betray what’s left to save your life.

Danelor was a peaceful country, a land of poets and musicians. Insignificant. Defenseless.

The merciless invaders swept in from the north and claimed it for their empire. They burned the farms and tortured the survivors for their entertainment. Their cruel soldiers slaughtered every last soul in the royal palace… except Miranelis, a cowardly clerk hiding in a pantry, too afraid to fight.

To Kezul, the disgraced son of the northern emperor, Danelor is a test. If he can keep control of the devastated land, he will not be stripped of his birthright. But he was only taught to conquer, not to rule.

Miranelis, now his captive, may not have the stomach for battle, but they understand the intricacies of rule. But they have no reason to help the conquerors who destroyed everything they loved.

So Kezul will have to give them one.

Conquest is no-magic fantasy whump with a royal whumper, a fearful but quietly defiant nonbinary whumpee, degradation, cultural differences, fantasy politics, and an intense and complicated relationship between whumper and whumpee (no romance).

Martyr is sci-fi interrogation whump (light on the tech, heavy on the war crimes), with a defiant whumpee, a cold female whumper, torture, emotional whump, and devastating personal realizations on both sides. This story is novel-length, and is complete at 30 chapters. Many of the chapters are whumper POV.
