Neville Longbottom is actually the Chosen One
Harry Potter is the second best selling book series in the world after Lord of the Rings. It is well known throughout the world and has definitely became something rather cultural, for lack of better wording. Several conspiracies lie within the series, including the fact that Neville, a main character, is actually the Chosen One.
Personally, this theory was brought to light for me from my dad, who has only seen the Harry Potter movie series, but has listened to both my mother and I ramble about the books for the past 20 years.
Reason One: The Prophecy
This reason is particularly common, but holds so much value towards the theory. Neville and Harry share the same birthday and a similar parental background. Harry’s parents are dead while Neville’s are insane. The prophecy does not explicitly state that Harry is the boy. Much commonground is found between the boys, such as issues with Snape, house, background, birthday, etc. It’s very possible that Neville Longbottom could be the boy.
Reason Two: Neville’s Wand
Neville’s poor wizarding was highlighted in the series until Order of the Phoenix, when he became a great wizard. The reason for this is Neville’s wand. The only wizarding subject he was good at was Herbology, which had no wand usage but much magic and the knowledge of it, so no wizard that was at Neville’s presumed level would be as good at it as he was. Neville said himself that he was going to use his father’s wand as a salute to his father, so he wasn’t using the right wand the entire time, until Order of the Phoenix where he broke his wand and had to replace it. After his replacement, he became a fantastic wizard.
Reason Three: Harry Didn’t Kill The Last Horcrux
In the final book, Deathly Hallows, Harry, Ron, and Hermione adventure off to kill the horcruxes Voldemort created in order to kill Voldemort himself while Neville and Hogwarts students protect the school. Neville is actually a big help to the trio when they return to fight the Battle of Hogwarts. As Harry goes temporarily unconscious and talks to Dumbledore in his mind, the horcrux in him is gone as Voldemort killed it. When Harry resurrects, Voldemort does not die because there is one last horcrux, Nagini. Neville is the one to kill the final horcrux and weakened him to his death. Even without Harry’s spell, Voldemort still would have died because of pure weakness.
