fascists deserve to be discriminated against actually
xladybo-katanxâ:
bo didnât like to make things more complex than they had to be. there was always a simple explanation. or⌠it could be made into something simple, something that made sense. itâs how she copedâ how she had to see the world to stay sane. so to hear that cienna didnât see it that way was⌠well, relieving. she smiled some at her comment, squeezing her hand a bit.Â
with a quick laugh, she rolled her eyes, âwell, i guess iâll just have to teach you, burârin. â
Cienna squeezed her hand back, trying to empty her mind of the hurried thoughts she usually had, the growing anxiety and anger over how the world was looking, and most importantly to take a step back from her work as literally everyone told her she needed to do. âYouâre gonna teach me to be patient? Donât think thatâs a lesson you want to teach me, Iâm a bad student.â
tburrinâ:
tyr would be lying if he said he didnât care. didnât⌠feel some guilt at leaving when he did. not enough to keep him there but⌠he couldnât imagine what they were going through now without someone else to pick up the slack⌠the punishment.Â
not that he would ever tell cienna this. or, make it known.Â
âthatâs what got you in trouble before, just curious if thatâs what happened now? or have you moved up in the world,c? gotta say, iâd be impressed if you killed a first order officer. my guess is you antagonized them too much.âÂ
Watching him, she sighed a little, images flashing in her mind about what he might have done, learn about the force, get away from their parents. It would be stupid to say she didnât feel any envy towards him. He was always better at everything than her, or it felt like it growing up and so she always tried her damnedest to one up him. One up both her brothers, really.Â
âMmm. T3 got destroyed on Batuu before I left.â Tyr knew about her droid. How it was the only thing she cared about when they were little, and she was grateful that it was one of her secrets he had kept. âHavenât had one of my own since.â There was an edge of sadness in her voice, she really did miss that droid. âI did move up in the world, as a matter of fact. More than Iâd like to have. But no, didnât kill an officer. Did taze one though.â

@burrincâ
âiâm just saying itâs not unheard of,â takkel bari says into the transmitter, causing jaedah to shoot the device a rancid look, the hologram of the zabrak mechanic merely shrugging in response. âyouâd be surprised at how often you find those things in vector plates on the south side.â
jaedah returns his attention to the work before him, a pile of wires and cords and data chips all knotted and manged, the giant tangle still somehow attached to the mainframe of his ship, despite itâs near uselessness. itâll be too expensive to replace all this, and despite the capable help heâs hired to work and fix the ship, he canât afford much more without pulling off a heist and attracting too much attention to himself. he glances over at cienna, whittling away at her own task to complete, before sighing at takkel. âif youâre going to be disgusting and inadequate, i shouldnât have called you in the first place.â
âwhat else are friends for?â
âweâre not friends. bye.â
the zabrak merely chuckles and salutes him. âmay the force be with you, captain.â
âdonât bring the force into this, you slime-rat, thatâs the last thing i need,â and he hangs up on him. luckily, he knows takkel well enough that the other will still answer his next call, and probably be just as unhelpful. regardless, he tosses the device onto the table and frowns darkly at the mess before him, muttering mostly to himself but not worried if cienna can hear him, âwhat bantha back-end feces manure, the force. spare me.â
Honestly at this point Cienna was so eager for the work. She had been on base for... Way too long, in her opinion (though in other peoples opinions it definitely hadnât been long enough) and with everything going on she needed the distraction.Â
It helped the pay was handsome and she actually knew it was something sheâd enjoy doing, not that she didnât enjoy doing most any repair work. But the fellow who commissioned her didnât seem like the chatty type seeing as heâd be around so it was all the same to her. The sooner she did the work the sooner she could get paid.
She kept mostly to herself, head down, goggles on and expertly working away on what she had been given, though her curiosity peaked when she heard the conversation. More specifically the manâs last words he spoke into the comlink, and what he muttered afterwards.
Thw force had always fascinated Cienna, she knew a lot of it stemmed from the jalousy of her brother having it, but the stories she had been told by travelers... How she wished she could have it for herself. She had her kyber crystal around her neck and that was the closest she ever was to it, but she always wanted to know more. âI take it youâre not a fan of it?â Cienna said for one of the first times, feeling excitement for a moment of hearing another story of it as she had when she was young.
nctburrinâ:
after being left behind, apollo had been careful to detach from everything his siblings could mean to him. he didnât want to miss them. he didnât want to look for them. after they both left for better lives, apollo knew he needed to separate those parts of his lives. he doesnât expect cienna to care that heâs here. if anything, he expects her to try and sabotage things for him so she can get ahead. itâs part of the reason heâd avoided her for so long. given the way she always wanted to outdo them both, he canât imagine sheâd want anything else. even just thinking about it makes him realise what a huge mistake this is.
âgood. itâs a boring story.â he answers with a sense of finality. he has no intention of telling cienna why he changed his name, or how he got his new name. heâs not even sure he cares if she likes it or not - heâs sure sheâll find a reason not to. it doesnât matter, surely. thank kriff he has buddy here or he probably wouldâve stormed off by now. âleft batuu when i was eighteen.â he explains shortly, shrugging a shoulder. âiâve been here - i donât know, six or seven years.â pausing, apollo considers the question, how best to answer. whether he should.. lie, or give her a truth she probably doesnât want. âi just - made sure it didnât happen. figured you wouldnât want to see me, so i made sure it didnât happen.â
She figured how he must have felt, when Cienna was gone after the attack on her village. Somehow she hadnât believed that heâd survived. After seeing their parents killed... It couldnât even occur to her. Or maybe she didnât want to think about him. Despite their.. Rocky relationship, of course Cienna cared for him. She knew that they had bonded despite their situation, and with their situations they had to keep it buried, never let it show. She would protect her brothers if it came down to it, she knew and she hoped they would do the same for her. They had already protected her she had her own secrets to keep from their parents.
As much as Cienna wanted to pry and find out why the name change she knew it was best not to. It certainly wasnât a name she had chosen but hey, she wasnât him. âEighteen.. You stayed there that long?â She tried not to think about their home planet, what he must have done to survive. âIâd say youâve been doing a good job avoiding me but Iâve had plenty on my own to deal with.â Cienna mumbled, eyes on his droid again, fascinated by it.
xladybo-katanxâ:
the mandalorian smiled under her helmet, squeezing her hand some, âglad to hear you donât think this is complicated,â she commented, head tilting down towards her some. that was⌠good to know, honestly. she had been worried. worried this was⌠she wasnât interpreting it right or something. she rolled her eyes, âguess youâll just have to be patient.âÂ
âNo, I love how this isnât complicated.â Cienna murmured. Her life was... Hectic, and honestly she was always getting herself into more trouble. But Bo... Bo was simple. Cienna knew how she felt about her, how she didnât want her to leave her... It was so nice. âYouâre making it hard for me because I donât have a lot of patience, Bo.â She watched her as they walked out. At thins point.. She knew it would be smart to just get a helmet of her own, have some way of staying more anonymous.
tburrinâ:
tyr knew cienna and calo had it worse than he did. he was the clear favorite until he started causing problems. who knew how it was when he leftâ but lucky? well. that certainly wasnât the case for any of them. it was lucky they were off the shit hole. he snorted some at her comment, rolling his eyes, âyeah, whatever. you can keep thinking that,â he simply stated, tilting his head, smirking a little bit.Â
this was strange to interact with her now. it was almost like nothing had changed.Â
something he wasnât sure he wanted to feel again.Â
âoh, but i saw your name specifically,â he commented, raising his eyebrows, leaning in towards her. he was sure it was something stupid that she had done. antagonized someone or⌠something stupid like that. âso, whatâd you do? droid go on a murderous rampage?âÂ
Cienna still had that bitterness- that spite of when Tyr had left. How their parents had come down hard on the two younger Burârin siblings when he left, how they had to make up for him, how impossible that was without the use of the force. Of course their parents knew that but why would it ever matter. It never mattered to them.Â
Clearly Tyr had different thoughts on the situation, on his ability to escape. She and he brother had suffered while he got to get away, do... Whatever he had done.
But the conversation moved forward. Him thinking she had gotten herself into trouble, nothing new. Cienna was well aware that she was wanted, sheâd have to be stupid not to know it âWhen hasnât my name been on a wanted list?â She tried to retort, to play it off that she really was very wanted, with a high price on her head âA droid? Really? Is that all you think Iâm good for, building droids that get me into trouble?â
nctburrinâ:
there are so few people who can bring genuine emotion out of him. who can draw on something⌠else. something deeper. usually he gets flashes of it here and there with kitty, when he lets himself be.. the realest version of himself there is. but beyond that, his life is a careful mask. an act that heâs held onto for years now. a life that he is not ready to let go of. it might not have been his identity to begin with, but heâs the one who proved himself, heâs the one who earned this place with the resistance. and he believes in it. heâs⌠heâs apollo corren.
the name, though - the name he hasnât really used since he lied his way into the academy, it makes him flinch and quickly shake his head. âdonât call me that.â he says quickly, stepping closer to his sister so theyâre not overheard. the last thing he needs is his entire life shattering because he decided to take the unthinkable step and talk to cienna after all this time.
please donât make me feel like this is a mistake.
buddy can tell heâs tense, trilling quietly by his ear, but apollo ignores it for now. he.. can only deal with one thing at a time, and seeing cienna again, speaking to her again, it brings up such a whirlwind of emotions heâs not even sure where to start. âiâm apollo, now. apollo corren.â he hisses quietly, as if that explains anything. but thereâs only so much she needs to know for now. âplease.. use that name, alright?â
To say Cienna hadnât missed her brother was an understatement. If she had known he was alive when the first order attacked Batuu... Hell, she would have gone looking for him. She had been practically whisked off their planet without anything. She even had to leave her droid and that hurt enough. Beyond wanting her parents approval, Cienna had always wanted, hell, a normal relationship with her brothers. She had grown up watching siblings that protected one another, helped. Sheâd be a fool to think her brothers had never done that for her but she wanted a semblance of normality.
Hearing his speak, practically hiss that he didnât call himself his name, the name she had known him as for 27 years now, she rose an eyebrow. That wasnât quite as expected, not that this situation was at all.Â
âI- Okay, Apollo. Donât want to know how you came up with that.â Cienna ran her hand through her ponytail, eyes moving towards the doing that trilled on his shoulder. Modified bd unit, she assumed he had fixed it himself. There were parts she could even recognize now from all those years ago, parts from the scrap piles on Batuu. âHow long have you been here, how have I never seen you here before?â Ciennaâs tone was demanding, back to her usual shock after the shock of the return of her other sibling.
xladybo-katanxâ:
bo let out a laugh under her helmet, turning to face cienna, âoh would you now? well. maybe i should play harder to get,â she joked some. shaking her head. smiling under her helmet, she took her hand, squeezing it some, âif i didnât have this on, iâd kiss you again.âÂ
Cienna watched the Mandalorian, glad she could spend some time with her, wishing she didnât have the helmet on so she could kiss her again. âIâd prefer you didnât, Iâm enjoying this as it is. My life is complicated enuogh, Iâm savoring this.â Cienna squeezed her hand back âWish you didnât either, Iâd love to kiss you again.â
tburrinâ:
he assumed cienna was up to something illegal. he didnât careâ it would be hypocritically to pretend he did. he was curious, but not enough to ask. he figured she had it handled. or didnât. it was her business that didnât matter. they had all been in their own worlds, in a way. thatâs what their parents had taught themâ forced them into. constant competition.Â
seems he wasnât the only one not over that.Â
he snorted at her comment, eyes rolling. it was a petty statement, one clearly meant to get him to leave. something that only made him want to stay and push her buttonsâ maybe see where she was sneaking off to. âlucky me. you could say that.â it wasnât accurate. not necessarily. though, who was lucky, really?Â
âlet you  do what you want? that seems dangerous,â he said, surprised to be teasing her. not that she wouldnât clearly take it as an attack. she always did, âsomeoneâs judgy. especially considering i heard youâre a wanted resistance member.âÂ
Cienna was aware that Tyr was smart enough- well- knew enough about her not to question the things he did. Hell, they never questioned one another growing up, it would only lead to trouble. That much hasnât changed with them growing up and living their own lives. Their business was their own and it had always been every sibling for themselves.
The statement she had made, meanwhile, hell. She only partly meant it in a petty way. He had, indeed, escaped their parents, the shithole they grew up in before the rest of them. Cienna had been so desperate to leave, every time she had tried her parents had found her and punished her. It was a stupid system- act like they didât care if you were around but the moment youâre gone for too long they stopped at nothing to get you home. âI stand by my lucky you.â She responded, arms crossed.
âItâs worked out well enough for me. Iâm alive, arenât I?â She was surprised he was teasing her too, that was something that hadnât happened in so long. âMmm arenât all resistance members wanted?â Not a great response but it was the best she could do. Yes, she was well aware she was wanted more than most, it was a good thing that he probably didnât know she was as high ranking as she was.

closed starter for @burrinc !
this isnât a good idea. apollo knows this. heâs spent.. years here, avoiding her. taking careful care not to go near her. to keep his distance from the mechanics. he has one or two he knows he can count on to help him when he needs it, specifically so he could avoid cienna for as long as possible.
but in avoiding her, heâs been forced to keep an eye on her as well. be aware of what sheâs doing so he doesnât cross her path by accident. and.. well, heâs lost count of the number of times sheâs had to escape from a first order prison. so here he is, waiting near the entrance sheâs due to use anytime now, arms crossed over his chest, buddy rolling back and forth on the table beside him. he lets out a small, questioning trill, and the manâs expression softens just a bit. âi know i said youâd never meet her. things change.â he mumbles in return. heâd meant it, to. never did he think heâd cross paths with either of his siblings again.
but⌠here he is. making a choice he never thought heâd make.
as he sees cienna step into the base, apollo pushes himself up, lifting the little droid up to perch on his shoulder, clasping at the collar of his jacket to keep himself steady as per usual. the droid doesnât need to be here, but⌠heâs apolloâs best friend. if anyone was going to be here for something this difficult, itâs buddy. âare you even keeping track of how many times youâve had to escape their prisons?â he calls to her, forehead slightly furrowed. itâs⌠hard to know exactly how he feels, seeing her again. properly, at least. considering their history, the way they were brought up, heâs not sure how long itâs going to take him to work through it.
It was pretty typical for Cienna to get captured at this point. She knew how to get out, though and that was what mattered right now, being an engineer with a lot of knowledge (not to mention being part of the escapades of the gala) put a pretty high price on her head and any information someone would be able to weasel out of her... It was good she was sneaky and though not smart at everything, her childhood had given her the ability to get away from nearly everything. Nearly.Â
As much as Cienna wanted to forget her past it was a part of her, she was stuck in the cycle of anger and guilt and feeling like she was always doing something wrong, no wonder Cienna turned to her work so much. It was the only time she could get her mind off everything, or really anything anymore.Â
Especially now that she knew that her eldest brother was alive to boot.. She had a lot to forget about. So when she heard a voice chiding her about being taken prisoner Cienna couldnât help but roll her eyes. This again? Soon enough everyone on base would have given her this talk. However, when she turned to see who was giving her the talk this time the mechanic nearly stumbled, looking like sheâd seen a ghost. Hell she might as well had seen one.Â
âCalo..?â
pastkillledâ:
he didnât have need to explain himself or his plans, or even how he was going to achieve them. given that he was the master of the knights of ren, his word went no matter what it may be. kylo wasnât going to be questioned when he had earned the title and knew exactly what he was doing. taking a member of the resistance would be useful to them, grant them the ability to interrogate and do as they pleased to get the information they needed. âi wouldnât be wasting my own time if it wasnât going to be.â
waving away any other concerns, kylo turned his focus outwards toward the force, feeling around for that familiar sensation that the kyber crystal produced. there. without a word, he began to make his way towards the location that he could feel the force signature from the crystal.Â
Stay out of trouble and out of sight. The words had been drilled into her again and again by her superiors. Everyone who knew her was well aware of her habit of causing trouble and she wanted to see Bo. That wasnât too risky, was it? Going to get lunch with the Mandalorian she really cared about, that wouldnât attract any attention, right? Okay, maybe they should go somewhere private. Either way Cienna had a hood pulled over her head, hiding her brown locks in its usual ponytail. She even switched from her normal jumpsuit to a shirt and pants to be even less conspicuous.Â
As she passed a few market stalls she paused to look at some pastries. Maybe Bo would like one, after all, she did owe her one.Cienna let herself get a bit lost in her thoughts when there was a commotion, people scattering. There was a group coming her way, clad in all black. Hell. Anyone from the Resistance knew who they were. Shoving the thoughts of the Mandalorian and sweets into the back of her head she quickly walked away, moving down a side alley, holding her breath as she didnât dare look back. She had to get out of here.
xladybo-katanxâ:
was this always going to be so⌠embarrassing. as much as bo wanted to savor this feeling of warmth and⌠joy. it was exhilarating and new. andâŚ. unexpected. she rolled her eyebrows, reaching for her helmet, putting it back on so she could have both hands free, âi could just leave you here, if youâd prefer to be so stubborn.âÂ
She couldnât help but smile more as she admired Bo, taking her in still. How did she get so lucky? Why had she never felt this way before? Leaning over Cienna kissed her cheek before Bo put her helmet on, letting out a breath. She looked even more graceful and deadly with the helmet on and sheâd be damned if she didnât think that was hot. âIâd rather go with you, Bo. Besides, you wouldnât want to leave me here all alone, would you?â
tburrinâ:
âof course it matters, paints a target on your back, c,â he replied, watching her movements. he could sense she was worried. not that he was going to do anything, she was hardly worth his time to attack, nor was he looking to be arrested tonight.
tyr snorted at her comment, shaking his head, glancing away for a moment. she had always been jealousâ acted like their parents had treated him truly any differently than her. no, his abilities had only made them push him harderâ created⌠more consequences when he failed. but he got to leaveâ he knew his sister wasnât so lucky. âmoved up in the world enough to avoid that,â he retorted, turning to face her, body language still relaxed in comparison to her own, âthough, iâm surprised youâre working for something nobleâ well, if you can call your cause noble.âÂ
eyes flicked back to the supplies, eyes rolling, âah, yes. because i came here to take your junk,â he laughed a bit, âjust asking a question, no need to be so hostile.âÂ
Cienna just snorted at that. Paints a target on your back, sheâs had one on hers since they were kids, just like he did. Good thing he wasnât aware of her recent escapades or else heâd really rub it in her face, how most official people in the city seemed to be on the lookout for her after what she helped pull at the gala, and then escaping the first order prison.. She had some assurance that he probably wouldnât turn her in at least, he always wanted to be the one to make her suffer, not let anyone else do it. Seemed that hadnât changed in all the years. Didnât matter, she was always ready to run at a moments notice.
âLucky you.â She crossed her arms, watching him, knowing he probably thought he had it tougher. But how could he? Their parents were always praising him, giving him gifts and shit because he had the force. The closest she had ever gotten.. Not to mention her kyber crystal but itâs not like she actually had a use for it despite it meaning the world to her, as it had when she was a child.Â
âThey let me do what I want, more than most people can say.â Without them she knew she wouldnât have made it to being an engineer, to have the freedom to make whatever she pleased. And once this was over, sheâd officially open her own shop, buy a place, not just rent. âIt wouldnât surprise me Tyr, old habits die hard.â
