“The self-service, cafeteria-style restaurant has as its main focal attraction, the 75-item salad bar. The setting is light and summery with a palate of rich pastels such as lavender, aqua, coral, peach, and lots of white and soft gray. According to the interior designer, Lisa Gallun, “the pastel colors lighten up the space and give it a vibrant, contemporary look,” which is further enhanced by the neon signage that sparkles through the generally warm ambient incandescent lighting. Adding to the color and the summery festive quality of the project are the canvas hangings that are suspended from the ceiling grid which also carries the track lighting. Beyond — the ceiling has been painted black. The banners highlight the salad bar and they are also used in the outdoor dining patio along with awnings and fabric panels lashed onto the railings.”

“If you are trapped inside by the smoke and watching your air quality steadily decline- here is somethung you can do right now to make things slightly better.

Get every spare pot/pan/container/bucket you have and fill them halfway with water, place these everywhere in your house you have the space to safely do so. The idea is to create as much watery surface area as possible- the water will gradually absorb smoke particles and clean the air. It’s small, but if you have enough surface area it can make a *very* meaningful difference over 2-3 hours.

Another thing you can do is run a hot shower until your bathtub is 1/2 filled up- leave the batroom door open. The rush of humidity into your living space will knock many of the smoke particles down onto the floor. (Do this every few hours as needed as needed).

I know how it looks but this set up has kept the air quality in my bedroom basically normal for the past 3 days. It’s an improvised solution- but it’s one that works surprisingly well and doesn’t require much in the way of materials.”

Today I learned that keeping moving does not mean you are moving on. I am Newton’s Cradle. Every time I think I’m making positive change and progress in healing, I get slapped by that metal ball.

It’s hard to move on when you’re stuck in a bed by yourself and madsacism tempts you with new smiling photos every few days.

I’ve been woken up every night for the last year by vivid dreams of her. Apparently that’s what happens when you’ve endured intense trauma. I learned that today. No matter how hard I try to not focus on her my subconscious wrecks me in my sleep. So... I can’t even make it through the night... it’s been almost an entire fucking year. I’m so tired. I wonder if she thinks about me at night or wakes up at night from dreams of me that cause her to weep herself into consciousness.

I’m going to Seattle next month to see Mount Eerie play crushing love songs and I’m going to sit on the shore for a while and weep and cross out the initials I wrote on the railing almost a year ago... days before she hit the eject button.

This is the greatest loss of my life.
