          WITH HER LIPS PARTED, she presses her tongue against the roof of her own mouth. Part of her wants to say I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU, but truth be told, she can’t quite believe herself. She’s meant to be better at catching things like this  -  in her defense, it’s been quite some time since anyone has asked her out. 

          HAND AROUND HER DRINK, she takes a rather long sip from her wine, knowing she’ll need it in her system. “I thought you wanted to ask me about an update on the WOLF CASE. You don’t want me to think you’re someone with ulterior motives, do you?” She’s not particularly upset  -  if she were, she’d be long gone by now. 

LUCAS REED, HAVE ULTERIOR movies? it was more likely than you thought. the shit eating grin that stayed plastered across his face went nowhere as he watcher her sip her wine. his own drink staying where it was, sitting on the table top -- not wanting to disturb it in favor of giving her all his attention. getting her here had been something he never expected, and he was going to soak up every MINUTE of it.  “what? me?” he scoffed, hands raising up in mock surrender. “never. i’m all about work, dear.” uncrossing his ankles where they had settled before him, he leaned forward slightly with that same pleased smile on his face. “but . . . i wouldn’t mind getting a little personal. the WOLF case is personal, isn’t it?”

Jesse looked up. Gripping the umbrella in her hand. She was free. To do whatever she wanted. A huge weight off her shoulders. No long bound to Cyberlife and their masters. Her head lifts waiting for the light to change to red. Rocking on her heels she looks up and notes a gentleman. She gives a gentle smile and turns back to the light before looking back up. With the light changing she crosses the street and heads into a small little gift store. 

THE LAST THING LUCAS wanted someone to think was that he was stalking them. of course, it had happened before. after all -- journalism could be a bit tricky when you weren’t ready to take risks. but he wasn’t on a case. he wasn’t on anything, but his own business. closing his umbrella as he entered into the small gift shop, he realized he maybe should say something to the woman he downright followed in. “i promise i’m not following you, ma’am.”
