Speaking from experience as someone in their 40s who has survived and escaped many violent situations and relationships:
DO NOT seek romantic relationships if you have low self-esteem. You will end up settling for folks who make little to no effort. You'll be vulnerable to exploitation. Search for kinship.
DO NOT prioritize dating over investing in friendships and your family. Community will carry you through hard and good times.
DO NOT base your decisions on a scarcity mindset. If you believe you have no or limited options whatever choice you make is gonna cost you severely.
DO center yourself! Your ambitions, dreams, health and healing are all important. You will become the best version of yourself.
DO speak kindly of yourself whether you are alone or in the company of others. Words have power!
DO believe in yourself. Every successful person had to push through loads of negativity, obstacles, and hatred.
It is truly never too late to choose yourself, reset, and try again.
