[kit young, 25, cis man, he&him] charles edmund tilney, sir tilney, has come to court. they are known for being reckless, confident & emotional but their chambers are reminiscent of a faint curse being heard in a crowded room, a rosary drenched in blood & an overly confident smile before doing something impulsive.

her fingers moved more precisely than quickly, black thread being drawn through white linen. the small repetitive design consisted of flowers and various lines and symbols, aodrning the small piece of fabric that would later become the cuff to a shirt. at a sound near the door, margaret looked up from her blackwork, and gave a small smile. “do you need the room? there’s plenty of space if you’d like to sit.”

“ i was actually looking for you, sister. ” charlie smiled at the older tilney, making his way through the room. he missed having margaret around --- not only because she was his sister, but because she was his friend too and knew him better than himself. “ you just got back, and you are already locked up doing god knows what. ” he murmured in a false reproachful tone, a playful smile adorning his lips. “ why we do not go outside for a little ? the weather is surprising good. ”

it was all that he could do to not fall asleep as lady jane abernathy droned on and on about her husband’s new mistress. ambrose was so tired of hearing the woman blubber on, that he retired he’s place in the gossiping circle in favor for a lavender chaise that was calling his name. ambrose laid across it dramatically, using one of his arms to cover up the sunlight peeking through the windows. “as exciting as this, can we not talk about something else? we have all known this dreadful secret for many months now,” he complained, a glass of wine hanging very loosely in his other hand. “maybe you should confront him- or her- someone,” ambrose suggested, his smile turning into a smirk at the thought of some mischief. 

however at the sound of the newcomers voice, he lifted his head to get a better look. it was none other than his dear friend charlie. “well, ladies and gentlemen i do believe we are in the presence of sir tinley. what an honor,” ambrose murmured, before taking another sip of his drink.

fuck, ambrose. it was the only thing charlie could think at the moment. he didn’t want to be known by everyone --- hence the whispering. charles didn’t care for anyone’s husband new mistress, as he was sure any men would have one, one day. but the desperation of the said woman was what draw him to the circle of people, charlie finding it rather funny. but also quite pitiful, reminding him of the situation of his own sister. charlie was sure lady alice, now queen dowager, had been a mistress of the king while he was married to madge.  “ greetings, everyone. ” charlie gave them an awkward smile, following the example of ambrose and sitting alongside his friend on the arm of the lavender chaise. 

“ look if this is not the honourable ambrose trembly ! the honour is all mine, my friend. ” charlie’s awkward smile became a knowing smirk, only displayed on the presence of the other nobleman. however, as charlie noticed the glass of wine and the smell of alcohol that came from his friend, his smirk was replaced by a concerned expression. “ how much did you drink, you ignorant fool ? ” charlie whispered, his tone a mix of worry and fondness.

OPEN STARTER. 

it was strange to be back at a court where his sister wasn’t the queen. since her exiled, charles never dared to put his feet there again. not out of fear --- screw that bastard old king, he was a coward --- but out of anger. he couldn’t deny that he missed it; the family state wasn’t full of artists and had the watchful eye of his mother. charlie missed the freedom he had between the royal castle walls, the brother of the queen could do anything that he wanted without much judgement. he still could, but he was just the son of a baron now. the prestige of being related to the tudors was something that he used to cherished, but if that meant his sister’s suffering, he was better without it. 

the court didn’t change since charlie put his feet there for the first time. the air seemed lighter --- since women could do anything they wanted without the threat of beheading hovering over them --- but it was still the same place of his memories. smiling, he approached a large group of whispering people to see what was happening. “ i can not believe she is going to do that. ” he whispered in true disbelief, an outraged expression adorning his face.
