“I love this color, by the way. You should keep it like this for a while, just sayin.” Bohyung’s fingers ran through the younger’s hair lightly, pushing it from his face as she admired the, at least to her, gorgeous pastel color. His head lay in her lap as the two sat and watched some shit movie on the sci-fi channel, another crazy Saturday night the two spent together. That was one of the characteristics Bo most liked about Bai; he was always down to chill, even if it was just with a shitty movie and some take out. He’s so lowkey it’s amazing.. Her hands played idly then with the fluffy mop atop the boy’s head, moving it into different styles, parting it in slightly different ways to see how it might look. A loud laugh erupted from her chest as she accidentally parted it straight down the middle, one hand reaching up to cover her mouth as she replied, muffled through her laughter. “God, never go for the middle part. You look like a weird little middle-schooler or something.”
“Middle parts make all people look old and weird don’t they? Only Johnny Depp hyung can get away with a middle part.” Her laughter is contagious and he grins, tilting his head back to stick his tongue out. There was a grave point in time where Bai did in fact wear a middle parting, with pride, in order to be just like H.O.T. (especially Tony Ahn). But everyone did it in the 90s, and he was around the age of 10 –– so his cuteness made it reasonably forgivable. Evidence lurked in his mother’s photography archives somewhere, and he was yet to destroy it all, so he just pretended the era didn’t exist. It was relaxing –– getting his hair combed by attentive fingertips while aliens or zombies or alien zombies groaned in the background. The simple things in life made Bai content, truly, and the moment was so comfortable that it took everything in him to not fall asleep in her lap. “It was an accident. The colour I mean. I wanted it to look a little warmer, but I think it suits me, yeah. S’grown on me.”

Excited yet sheepish, Bai didn’t spare his assaulter a second glance before sauntering away into the shadows–– well, more like, in search of another club to sign up for. Bai’s mouth didn’t open; he had nothing to say, didn’t even notice that he was subject to an intense and wavering stare. The apology flew right over his head because of the earphones clogging his ears and, in all honesty, the collision was probably his fault –– to say he’d been paying attention to his footsteps and surroundings, lest where he was actually going, would be a lie. Lucky a small folder and a couple of magazines (the Economist and the National Geographic) had been the only things he was carrying –– the rest of his items were tucked away in a backpack.
Alas, the bump wasn’t memorable in his day at all; Lee Bai was doing extremely well, for the first time in a long time. He’d made it into a reputable college as a scholarship kid (not that he was planning on disclosing that precious bit of information anytime soon)! Day one of fresher’s did not disappoint: he’d located the HQ of the campus newspaper and signed up to help out for the semester; he’d also contacted the friend of a friend and accidentally took up the offer to go for a bass guitar audition, for an indie band; his roommate didn’t smell and knew how to do everything with a microwave and a broomstick; and, to top it all off, he’d caught a glimpse of the all mighty, all-weather track. He’d be running on that beauty later.
Bai always been the golden child, semi-perfect son, but college meant exploring specific parts of his life that had been previously stifled, namely extracurricular activities, and he aimed to make the most of it. Bai wanted to do absolutely everything. The entire campus in all of its glory was at his disposal. Four years to do whatever, whenever. A week to go crazy before classes really started. His new RA had not-so-subtly hinted that the biggest student party of the year happening come 11pm at an address he’d scrawled on the back of his hand. Missing it didn’t seem like an option. It seemed pretty easy to find too: just follow the music...
In his daze, Bai had failed to notice the person in front of him, walked straight into him as a result and–– Hm. Dare-he-say, he looked vaguely familiar.
The offer draws a grateful groan from his lips, his head dropping to bump against the table. Even the thought of having the caffeine makes his mood rise. …Maybe he had a bit of an addiction. “If you get me coffee, I take back any and every sarcastic comment that has left my mouth today.”
“Yeah?” His pride is small, but it does exist. The sound of his chair scraping the wooden floor echoes throughout the room, but Bai is too tired, and too determined to really care. 244, 244... The page number is imprinted in his memory but he folds the corner of said page for good measure. “I’ll be back in five. Stay awake.”

“I’m pretty sure, I’m the greater chef...” [ he massages his nape absently, however ... yields to her suggestion with a curt nod ] “Sure. But I get to choose what we’re cooking.”

“Woah... Thanks, dude.” Confused, but pleasantly surprised, he took the brand new ice-cream cone –– that contained considerably more food than the one he’d left smack bang in the middle of the floor –– with both hands and gave it a tentative lick. Creamy raspberry bubblegum, sweeter than he remembered, immediately flooding his mouth to dominate his refined taste buds. He felt like dropping to his knees with gratitude, even though he knew it was silly. Could be argued that the ‘favour’ he’d received was only natural, seeing as he hadn’t gotten as far to truly devour his first cone but... It took two to cause a collision, Bai knew that. He hadn’t exactly been watching where he was going either. That’s why he’d stepped away from the situation without kicking up a fuss and without too much sadness –– life went on. Even though just an ice-cream to some, proved a rare indulgence to Bai; an occasion when he wasn’t eating food he hadn’t spent time preparing was one to be remembered. Not that cooking was a particularly laborious task, or even unpleasant, it just lacked a certain something... Glamour, even. Purchasing power made him feel good, a sentiment he surely was not alone in harbouring. Besides, he had his favourites.
His suspicion was delayed but eventually paid a visit, causing him to raise a wary eyebrow. It’s subtle but it’s there. It’s ridiculous, but human kindness was so rare his apprehension was instinctive. He couldn’t even remember if the guy he’d bumped into was the same guy who’d just offered him the cone –– he hadn’t really been focusing. And when no further words were exchanged, he cleared his throat. “Uh... Want a lick? This flavour’s great.”

“Nice evening isn’t it?”
Parks are for contemplating and deliberating and participating in melancholy activity, for him. Bai can’t remember the last time he’d visited a park in broad daylight, even for a school related event–– Probably never happened. It’s simple: fingertips curled inside the pockets of a drawstring hoodie; earphone cord loosely hanging around his neck, connected to an mp3 device in his left jean pocket; a creaky old swing and the haunting echo of children’s laughter, and the occasional dog bark, in the faraway distance. Peace is simple. And attainable. The fact his work is waiting, patiently on a desk in his apartment, doesn’t register.
The company startles him but doesn’t sour the mood. He rests his cheek against the cool chain of the swing and nods slowly. It’s usual that Bai doesn’t have a lot of words, even more so that he’s embracing it (as opposed to searching for a couple of throwaway comments). “Really nice. Quiet but not silent.”

bxai ( ☆ ) “I see,” but he doesn’t. While the deity can often produce a decent meal, baking is out of his normal means of appropriation. He rarely indulges in it, and his oven at home is spotless, from lack of use.
he exits the line clutching his spoils - cheesecake, mostly, and some doughy cookies he was fond of. “What’s the damage?” he inquires, tugging free his wallet from depthless pockets and pulling loose a few bills from within it’s folds.
The question flies right over his head for a second –– he completely loses track of time and place and stares out of the window with unfocused eyes and dilated pupils. It looks like he’s lost in a romantic daydream, alas bills and work could never have the allure and charm of another. Lunch hour was slow, as usual, boring even, it was lonely behind the cash register; heck, Bai feels like he owes the other a favour, purely, for giving him a reason to leave.
