Nishimura Riki always found a way to touch you.
It hardly mattered when the occasion was odd, or the crowd was rowdy and bustling. Subtly, Niki just somehow always found a way to come to contact with your skin.
Perhaps it is because his love language revolves around it Though he hates the idea of over the top physical affection in public, he truly does revel and thrive in the subject once the two of you are alone.
Like this very moment right now.
A particular Saturday night, after the two of you had gone for early dinner, you decided make some cookies as a dessert. Riki had gone over to your house, as he'd often do when he wasn't out doing idol business, practicing, or training.
Which is, in all honesty— is rare.
Thus, the reason for him lazing around your house all day and sharing nothing but movies, games, food, and laughter the last couple of hours. This particular night, however, was the first time you got to see each other again after a week of him being away.
And following this event, you supposed you wouldn't see him again for as long as a month or so as they are to be in tour.
It explains the reason why as you prepped the ingredients needed for the cookies and scurried around the kitchen, Niki had you in a back hug the entire time.
It didn't help the fact that his head was on your shoulder, too. Peppering soft and gentle kisses around your nape, neck, collarbone, and cheeks, occasionally.
"Riki, baby, can you let go for a bit? It's hard baking these cookies." You reason, as you set a carton of milk atop the table. Niki only hums, pulling you closer to his chest.
"Why?" He mumbles, low and gentle against your ear.
"What do you mean, why? You're like a clingy little koala! I might not get anything done at this rate!" Truth be told, you did love it when Niki was needy like this, acting like such a baby when in front of the cameras, he was but a "tough boy".
"I can help you with that..." Niki suggests, swaying the two of you side to side. You giggled, "Yes, you will! If only you let go of me and—"
All of a sudden, Niki turns you around and envelops you with his arms once more. It comfortably tightened around your neck, and you came to catch a whiff of his perfume you can recognize miles away.
"Baby, why do you want me to let go so bad? Do you not miss me?"
Niki says, as if you were dismissing him. His tone was rather teasing, "W-what? Of course I do!"
"Then it's okay if I cling to you while you bake?"
With a slight groan, you reluctantly agreed to his antics and turn around. Baking cookies had always been a simple task, which is bound to get tedious now as a Nishimura Riki now clings to you like a little koala bear.
Your ingredients were all complete and arranged, you grabbed a bowl to put the dry ingredients first, and a separate ones for the wet ingredients. All the while, Niki would do just about anything and everything to get you to pay attention to him.
Poking your cheek repeatedly, "Hey! Shh. Stop that." You turn to look at him, to which he only grins.
Then, taking one of the ingredients, "Where's the egg?"
Niki taps you in the shoulder, turns around, and with full confidence— he just... Acts like he's pooping, as mysteriously, and egg comes out of his hands. "Look, I lay eggs now."
He must think he must be so funny because right after, he started stomping his feet, snickering, and laughing so hard over his own joke.
You took the egg from him with a laugh in sake of entertaining him, and cracking the egg into the bowl.
Then, he'd make silly faces as you kneaded the dough.
"Imagine if the dough had a face, this is what it would be making right now."
Niki goes in front of you over the kitchen table, making silly little faces every time your hands came to contact with the cookie dough. He'd obnoxiously widen his eyes, puff his nose and ears, stick his tongue out.
One of his goofy faces made you cringe and laugh loudly, to which Niki smiled, "Heck yeah!"
Then, once you put the cookie dough in the oven, he'd stand in front of it and randomly start breakdancing in the middle of nowhere, pulling out his moves which would normally attract you. Now, it just made you shit in laughter.
"What are you doing?" You say, crossing your arms as Niki b-boyed. "I'm dancing for you, obviously!" He pants, doing flips and stumbling right after.
Thud.
"Oh my gosh! Are you okay?" You quickly come over to him, kneeling in front of his fallen figure, inspecting his leg which had fallen down. Niki didn't speak for a few seconds until, all of a sudden, he tackled you down the ground.
In a very tight, and heavy bear hug.
Hell, this boy put all his strength and weight upon you, encaging you with his legs, and keeping you impossibly close. You could hardly breath!
"Riki! Let me go!" You squirm under his hold, Riki only snorts, "I tricked you there baby! Ha! Take this!"
Riki suddenly started tickling you, and you felt like a worm under his hold. You were thrashing uncontrollably, laughing so immensely as he tickled, and tickled, and tickled.
'S-stop! Nooo!" You manage to mutter in between laughter, and he soon stops, opting to embrace you in the cold, hard apartment floor. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" He says, rolling your bodies around like sausages.
Gosh. At times, it hardly felt like you were taking care of a boyfriend, but rather, it felt like you had a child! Nishimura Riki is ridiculously mischievous and childish that sometimes, it felt like you're going to go insane!
The oven timer ticks, and Niki finally lets you out of his grasp. You take the cookies out of the oven, let them to cool as you grabbed some of the ice cream from the freezer.
Niki merely observes as you prepared him a bowl of cookies and vanilla ice cream, smiling when you hand him the bowl. You grabbed your own, and the two of you head back to the couch to laze around for the rest of the night and enjoy the rest of the night with him by your side.
"You baked these cookies so good, damn." Niki says as the two of you faced each other at the couch, eating away the ice cream and cookies combination. You smile and mumble a small thank you, opting to not tease him for annoying you so much as the cookies did taste good.
Once the two of you were finished, you settled your bowls at the coffee table and heaved a sigh, "I won't be seeing you tomorrow anymore, yeah?" you randomly brought up out of the blue, a wave of reality washing over you.
It didn't really matter where Niki had gone to, even if it's a country away, miles away, even just a neighborhood away. At the end of the day, you always missed your annoying little boyfriend terribly.
Niki sensed your sudden change of mood, pulling you closer and placing you atop his lap. He wraps both of your arms around his neck as you lazily hunched over and embraced him.
Niki pats your back in comfort, "I'm still seeing you in the morning, baby, don't worry." He assures, though, you can sense by the tone of his voice that he too, is disappointed.
"I'll miss you."
"I'l miss you too, baby."
You pull back from his embrace, holding his face within your hands. You lovingly caressed it, memorizing every detail and tracing it as if it was his last day on earth. Maybe it is to be, for a month or so, at least.
Niki only hums into your touch, closing his eyes and warming into your feather fingers further. His long fingers roamed around your back, caressing it, too.
"It won't take long, I promise..." He mumbles, opening his eyes and holding one of your hands. You only nodded.
You knew Niki found enjoyment in what he was doing. Performing in front of big crowds, making his name known along with his hyungs— it's all really a matter of accepting the fact that your very clingy boyfriend just had to be away for so long.
But then again, Niki always keeps his promise. Even if it is to be a year away, a decade away, even a millennia, you knew that Nishimura Riki always holds true to what he says.
And you know that by the end of each day, he'll always come back home to you, over shared ice-creams and cookies, over shared laughters and assurance.
And most of all, over a shared lifetime with his one and only girlfriend.

You got home after a long shift, the exhaustion weighed on your bones. The moment you opened the door, you saw your boyfriend Ni ki resting on the sofa, but as soon as he saw you, he’s eyes lit up and he immediately stood up. He ran towards you, wrapping you in his strong arms, his tall figure almost making you disappear.
“Finally, you’re home.” Niki murmured, his voice muffled as he buried his face in the back of your neck, taking in your scent.
You smiled, rubbing his back gently. “Did my big baby miss me?”
He pulled you in tighter, his large hands holding you like he never wanted to let go. “Yes, and you have no idea how much.”You couldn’t help but smile wider, feeling a flutter in your chest. “I was literally dying without you.” he said with exaggerated motions, pulling away slightly to meet your gaze.
“Oh, don’t be dramatic.” you teased, turning to walk toward the kitchen.
Ni ki followed you, his footsteps quick behind you, like a puppy that couldn’t bear to be apart for too long. “You have no idea how boring it is here by myself all day.”
“Oh, really?” you replied, placing the grocery bag on the counter. “You have your silly games. I bet it wasn’t that bad.”
“Maybe, but still. Staying at home on a free day without you? Torture.” he said, his tone bordering on pitiful. “Why’d you even have to work today, of all days? Saturday should be for us.”
You laughed softly, setting down the grocery bags. “I know, baby, I had to. My boss was nagging me all week.”
He leaned against the counter, arms crossed, watching your every move. “Talking about that, how was your day?” he asked, still clinging to the hope that maybe you’d tell him something good to make up for how his day had gone without you.
“Not great, honestly. My coworkers are idiots. They kept asking me to do this and that.” You sighed, shaking your head. “And not only that, they kept making fun of me because of my lunch.”
“The one with animals shape?” Ni ki raised his eyebrows.
“Yes! The ones I made.” you said almost with a whining voice. “It’s so annoying.”
Ni ki chuckled, moving behind you and wrapping his arms around your waist, pulling you close. “Next time…” he murmured in a low, playful voice. “I don’t mind throwing hands, you know.” You couldn’t help but laughed, your heart lifting at the sight of his silliness. You turned your head to give him a quick kiss on the lips. “I would do anything for you, baby.”
“Even if my lunch it’s too childish?” you smiled between kisses.
“Of course. I’d even go to jail for you.” he replied with a smirk.
You laughed, pulling away just enough to look up at him. “That’s crazy, Ni ki.”
“What? You don’t believe me?” He laughed, pinning you against the counter. “Jail is literally nothing. I’d find a way to escape just to be with you.”
You both burst into laughter, the sound so warm and familiar.
Oh, how you loved Ni ki.
“You think I could live a life without you for that long?” Ni ki said suddenly, his expression turning serious, though his voice still held that playful undertone. “No way. I’d actually go crazy.”
“You’re already crazy.” you said, poking his chest lightly.
“Me?” he gasped, pretending to be offended. “I’m not crazy. Why would you say that?” He pinched your cheeks gently. “That’s harsh. After I waited patiently by the door for hours.”
You rolled your eyes, smiling at his dramatic antics. “You mean the couch. You were comfortably laying there on the couch.”
“Shut up.” Ni ki said, laughing as he ruffled your hair. “You can’t tell me that you were away that long and didn’t even think about me once.”
You smiled and shook your head. “I actually didn’t.”
“Hey!” He put his hand over his heart, acting hurt. “That’s harsh, princess.”
You wrapped your arms around him again with a playful expression on your face. “Okay, okay, maybe I thought about you once or twice.” you teased, feeling him relax in your hold.
“Once or twice?” Ni ki, his lips curling into a grin. “That’s not enough.”
You laughed, resting your head against his chest. “I was busy, you know. Work’s been a nightmare.”
“Sure.” he said, his tone teasing but light. “I’ll let it slide this time.”
You smiled up at him, feeling comforted by his presence. “You’re too easy on me.” you said, giving him a gentle squeeze.
“I shouldn’t be, but I missed you a lot.” He leaned down, brushing his nose with yours.
“I missed you too.” you whispered softly.
“I hate being apart from you,” he added, looking directly into your eyes. The butterflies in your stomach fluttered like it was the first time you’d been with him.
“Really?” you asked, your smile growing.
“Of course, Mei.”
The moment he said that name, the smile on your face slowly faded. Your arms slipped from around him as you took a step back.
“Mei? What the—” Ni ki said, as if he couldn’t believe what he’d just said. “No, babe, please, I didn’t mean to.”
“Again?” You stared at him, your chest tightening.
“It was an honest mistake. I swear.” Ni ki said quickly, his expression shifting to one of regret as he saw how upset you were. “Fuck, I didn’t mean to.”
“Are you comparing me to her again?” You asked and Ni ki immediately shook his head.
“Baby, of course not. It’s nothing like that, I promise.” he said, his voice full of desperation.
“Then why are you thinking about her?” you asked, the hurt clear in your words.
“I’m not!” he replied quickly. “I don’t even care about her. You know what she did to me… you know what I’ve been through.”
Back when Ni ki was at he’s home town he used to date this girl name Mei, he’s first love to be cleared. They lasted a very long period but Ni ki had to move for a while because of collage, and since that they stared a long distance relationship. And well it did not last that much when Ni ki founded out she cheat on him when he was away.
You stared at him, disbelief and disappointment in your eyes. This wasn’t the first time he’d slipped up and called you by her name, and you’d let it go before because of how hard it was for him to forget about her. But after years together, you weren’t sure anymore.
“Then why would you say that?” you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
“I don’t know why I said that, baby, I’m sorry.” Ni ki replied, his hands rubbing over his face. “It just slipped. It was a mistake.”
“A mistake? Ni ki, I thought we talked about this?” You stepped back when he tried to step closer.
“No, I—” He closed his eyes, running his fingers through his hair, clearly frustrated with himself. “This is gonna sound so much worse.” he muttered under his breath. Before you could walk away, Ni ki stepped in front of you, blocking your way. “No, please, babe, understand. You’ve seen how she looks like.”
You frowned, your heart heavy. “And what about it?”
“You two look so similar!” he snapped, then quickly corrected himself. “Wait, I didn’t mean it like that—I mean—”
“Tell me something, Niki. Did you get with me because I look like her?” The question pop out of your mind and left him frozen.
“No! Of course not, baby. That’s not it. Please, hear me out.” he said, his voice pleading.
“You still think about her, don’t you?” you asked, your voice shaking with the realization.
“Baby, no—”
“All this time, haven’t I been enough for you?” You felt the tears threaten to spill. Ni ki tried reached for you, but you kept stepped back, holding up a hand to stop him. “I need you to be honest with me, Ni ki.”
He stood there, and for a moment, he looked like he was really thinking hard about it. Why was he even hesitating? Why was this something he had to think about?
“I swear” he finally said, but the way it came out was almost undecided.
The tears finally slipped down your cheeks realising. “Then why does she still have a place in your mind?” you asked quietly, your voice cracking.
Ni ki opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. He stood frozen for a moment before finally speaking, his voice strained. “I don’t know, okay? I didn’t want to see her, but I did. I saw her post on social media. She—she looked different, happy. And I just…”
You took a step back, a mix of disbelief and anger now filling you. “You saw her post? You went looking for her? After everything, you’re still looking at her? Ni ki what the fuck?
“I wasn’t looking for her, I swear. It just came up in my feed. I didn’t ask for it.” His voice was defensive, but there was no hiding the guilt in his eyes.
“I don’t care how it happened.” you snapped, your voice rising and tears running down your cheeks. “The fact that you saw it and let it get to you, that’s what hurts. You’re still thinking about her, Ni ki. You’re still letting her into your life, and it’s not fucking fair.”
“It’s just… seeing her face again, after all this time, it brought back memories I thought I’d buried. I didn’t want to think about her, I really didn’t.”
“Don’t you dare use that as an excuse!” You were shaking with frustration now. “It’s been years, Nishimura Ri ki. Years! You’ve had plenty of time to move on, but it seems I didn’t do a good job, did I?
“No, that’s not it, princess, please.” Ni ki said, his voice pleading, but you couldn’t keep the tears from streaming down. “It’s just that… she was my first love, and it’s hard to just forget everything so easily.”
“I don’t care how hard it is for you, Ni ki” You snapped, your chest tightening with every word. “We’ve been together for years! And I’ve given you everything. Everything. And yet, here you are, still thinking about her. I’ve been here, trying to make this work, trying to make you happy!”
“ I didn’t expect it to bring back all these feelings I—“
“Well, maybe you should’ve expected it, because you’re still fucking holding on to her!” You threw your hands up crying. “Every time you slip, every time you call me her name, I feel like I’m not enough for you. Like you’re still waiting for her to come back and not even seeing what you have right in front of you.”
You finally turned and walked upstairs to the bedroom you both shared, and just as you were about to close the door, Ni ki quickly stepped in.
“Y/n, stop, please.” Ni ki said, his voice trembling as his hand rested on the doorframe, trying to follow you in.
“Go back to her! I don’t fucking care anymore! Grab your shit and leave this fucking country!” You screamed, and for a second, you saw the shock in his eyes. It was the first time you’d ever said something like that, and it hit both of you harder than you anticipated.
He stood frozen in the doorway, the weight of your words crushing him. “Y/n—”
“Oh! Now you wanna say my name? This is fucking hilarious,” you interrupted, your voice dripping with sarcasm and rage.
Ni ki remained still, confusion, pain, and regret written all over his face. “I… I didn’t mean to hurt you. You know I love you.”
“Love me?“ you chuckled “Love me enough to still be stuck on her while I’m here? You don’t love me, Ni ki. I know who you pretend I am.”
Ni ki opened his mouth, but no words came out. His hands clenched into fists at his sides, like he wanted to reach for you but was terrified of making it worse.
“Why the fuck are you still here? If you’re so fucking stuck on her, go back to her. You think I’m just some backup plan? Someone to keep you busy while you’re too afraid to face your own damn feelings? No. Fuck that.“
He stepped forward, his hands raised, like he was trying to reach you, but you stepped back again, shaking your head in disbelief.
“Y/n, please, don’t do this. I love you. I swear.” He said now the tears streaming down he’s face.
“You don’t love me, Ni ki.” you said and a sob came out of your mouth. “If you loved me, you wouldn’t be holding onto her. You’d be here with me, fully, not half in the past and half here, just waiting for something that isn’t even real anymore.”
Ni ki stood in front of you, bawling, his tears flowing silently down his face. The two of you just stood there, crying, the weight of everything crashing over you both.
“I didn’t mean to hurt you, Y/n. I swear to God, I didn’t…” Ni ki whispered through his tears, his voice breaking with every word.
You sniffled, wiping at your face, before turning away from him. “I’m going to spend the night with a friend. When I come back tomorrow, I hope I don’t see your stuff… or you.” You opened the closet, pulling clothes out and tossing them into your bag, the finality of it all sinking in.
Ni ki stood still, not knowing what to do, the guilt and regret eating at him as he watched you prepare to leave. His hands trembling slightly as he watched you pack your things, but after a moment of hesitation, he grabbed your arm, stopping you in your tracks.
“Don’t touch me.” you hissed, trying to pull away. But his grip, though not forceful enough to hurt, held firm. “I swear to God, Ni ki, if you don’t let go of me, I’m going to ruin you.”
“Do it.” he said quietly. You froze, looking up at him. His nose was red, his eyes swollen and barely open from crying. He looked utterly defeated.
“Ruin me like she did.” he whispered, his words raw and heavy. “So I can never forget about you, either.”
You stared at him. “What the fuck are you even saying, Ni ki?”
He press he’s grip more when you tired again let go. “If losing you is the price I have to pay for what I’ve done, then fine. I’ll take it. I’ll take it all. Just don’t think for a second that I don’t love you. I do. I love you more than anything, Y/n.”
“Stop saying that.” you pulled finally your arm free. “You don’t get to call this love, Ni ki. Love isn’t… this. Love doesn’t hurt like this.”
You grabbed your things, your hands shaking as you packed. Ni ki’s presence was suffocating, his desperate eyes never leaving you, but you couldn’t let his guilt trap you any longer. You could feel his pain, but it didn’t change the fact that you were hurting, too.
When you made it to the front door, he’s grip on you tightened, his fingers desperately clutching at your clothes, your arms, pulling you back towards him.
“Please, Y/n.” he begged through broken sobs. “Please don’t leave me. You—you’re the only thing that’s ever made me happy.”
He clung to you, his sobs turning into quiet cries of regret. He fell to his knees, tears streaming down his face as he looked up at you. “I don’t know how to fix this. Please don’t go.”
There was nothing left to say, nothing left to fix. You took a deep breath and stepped out, the door slamming behind you.
Ni ki’s voice echoed behind you, but you didn’t turn back. You walked away, your heart heavy, leaving him broken on the floor as you closed that chapter once and for all.
