I finally took the time to start a Resources page for this blog. My hope is that this list will be helpful to other women looking to learn more about Goddess, feminism, and witchcraft.

I'll keep updating the list as I read more books since I don't want to add anything that I wouldn't personally recommend. I still have a ton of books I need to get through.

If anyone has any questions about the titles listed, or if you have other titles you recommend (written by women ONLY), please let me know!

I am a lesbian who writes for and about lesbians. I will always put them first because I'm sick of living off crumbs.

At the moment, writing is my only source of income. I know everyone is having a hard time at the moment, so I would really appreciate any and all support! It’s aim is to show women that we have played an important role in earlier societies, having been not only worshipped as the creatrix of life but also the bearer of community and a source of sacredness. Men treat women and nature exactly the same. Both have the ability to create life. When men won’t interfere, both have the ability to self-regulate. Some women choose to have children, some won’t. Human populations won’t grow unsustainably when women have agency. Nature, too, has it’s own ways of maintaining balance.

Men treat both women and nature as their property, as something to use for their purposes. Men will strip a woman of her rights and use her and make her birth children for him until she dies. Men will strip nature of her rights and use her and plant monocrops and use artificial fertilizers until the land is barren and ecosystems collapse.

The male fantasy of never ending growth drives both actions, as does the male failure to consider other beings experiencing anything at all. Women and nature, we exist only for his purposes.

Natalie Angier's research for her book, Woman: An Intimate Geography, confirms that "in the basic biological sense, the female is the physical prototype for an effective living being. Fetuses are pretty much primed to become female unless the female program is disrupted by gestational exposure to androgens." The Institute of Medicine study describes how our sex begins in the womb, and how the female is the primal matrix:

All human individuals—whether they have an XX, an XY, or an atypical sex chromosome combination—begin development from the same starting point. During early development the gonads of the fetus remain undifferentiated; that is, all fetal genitalia are the same and are phenotypically female. After approximately 6 to 7 weeks of gestation, if the fetus is male, the expression of a gene on the Y chromosome induces changes that result in the development of the testes. In contrast, fetal ovarian secretions are not required for female sex differentiation.

David Crews, of the University of Texas, describes the female as "the ancestral sex, while the male is the derived sex." Angier writes, ". . . eggs are inherently female. So in thinking about mirrors into infinity, the link between mother and daughter, the nesting of eggs within woman within eggs, we can go a step further and see the continuity of the chromosomes. No maleness tints any part of us gals, no, not a molar drop or quantum." There is no maleness in female- XX people, literally, and the culturally ascribed gender categories of masculine and feminine are clearly invented. Thus, females have no "masculine" side, as Freud or Jung would have us believe. This is just patriarchal gender jargon within a patriarchal frame.

If you are female, you have XX chromosomes in every cell. This is reality, a fact, not a belief or opinion, not a theory, not a feeling.

Like the categories of space and time, sexual categories provide the framework by which we perceive, and structure our perceptions meaningfully. Our perceptions have long been shaped by the social assumption that maleness is more significant than femaleness. In other words, the change we are invited to make in our thinking by the gynocentric religious imagery from prehistoric Crete is a very radical change. But it is a change that has not yet been fully appreciated. The challenge to think in gynocentric categories has not really been taken up.
