Technically speaking, Batsu could survive just fine in the simulation without waking up to eat. Allen just thought it would be nice to offer him actual food, rather than the vitamin-packed bread loafs the boxes create.

“Then stop whining about it. I’ve offered to help you and you’ve turned it down at every chance.” Allen voice has a biting tone to it, and its obvious he’s becoming irritated. He doesn’t have the patience Sickle had.

“Remind me again how forcing me into an enclosed space, on top of isolating me, is meant to help.” He’s trying to piss Allen off at this point. But every time he does, the guy’s conscience kicks in and he just puts Batsu back in the box instead of killing him. Shame.

They’ve been going at this for what, at least a couple years? And he still hasn’t had his memories return. Maybe it’s just a feeling of emptiness that he thinks should be filled by memories, or something. He doesn’t know, and the damn simulation isn’t letting him find out.

Honestly, if he wasn’t just called out on it, he would have snapped at him. Allen bristles, his hypocrisy blatantly pointed out.

“..I could try to set up a different version of the simulation. Maybe that runs through the box, can be operated outside of it..”

“It would take time, though. I wouldn’t be able to promise it would work.”

“Oh? So I was right, eh?” Batsu, please, don’t speak with your mouth full, that’s gross. As a bit of quick, small karma he gags on the pastry and coughs for a few moments. And then he’ll continue eating like it’s nothing.

“... Don’t care, to be frank. You know this’ll just be a rinse and repeat no matter what.” And he’ll just continue eating the food. It’s better than just letting his mind do all the work or whatever. Honestly, how does no one starve in these things?

This is definitely a conversation they’ve had before. If he extended the box, it wouldn’t fit in the room with the others. He didn’t have another viable room to move it to, either.

Allen poofs up some food-real food-and offers it to Batsu. “I can’t find out who your family is. Only you can do that. Learn to relax-stop fighting the simulation and it will show you the memories you lost.”

“Still think the ‘kill me and let this just end’ option is pretty viable.” He’ll roll his eyes. “Maybe then I can be reincarnated and actually have a family.” Or maybe he can just stop existing period. That’d be even better.

He’s really tempted to start a fight with Heavenly right now, but just when he’s about to start a fire, the other conjures some food. ... Eclairs? Hesitantly, the boy takes the plate of pastries, eyeing Allen and the food back and forth, confused. “... Sure, sure, cheesy words to get rid of a crippling fear. So does that mean I can ask you to ‘stick your neck out for me’ and not cause you to hit me or berate me?” He points with one of the eclairs to emphasize his words, before biting into it and chewing.

It’s an awkward relationship between them. Between all of the people unable to get to Utopia. Allen has to keep them here, so they don’t destroy what he’s created.. but at the same time, he knows how awful it is to be shut in those boxes.

“..You really can join them, you know. It’s never too late.”

“It’s not perfect, but they’re happy.”

“Why would I want to join a bunch of selfish humans in a false world that makes them ‘happy’?” Allen tried to put him with the others, back when this was first made, didn’t he? Batsu nearly ruined everything from the beginning.

He thought Utopia would mean he’d finally have a family. Or he might get his memories back of who he was before this mess. Or something, any way he wouldn’t be unknown, or alone. But nobody has reached out to him except THIS asshole.

Allen grits his teeth, deciding not to let the anger he feels at that comment enable him to blast Batsu into oblivion.

“It doesn’t make them happy. That’s why they’re there-they can feel other emotions there.. We’ve been over this. I’m working on a way to fix it.”

He’s pinching the bridge of his nose in irritation.

“If you would relax, instead of freaking out all the time, that box could probably help you get your memories back.”

That’s why he had to program that simulation. Batsu nearly has a panic attack when he’s in the box.

He'll drop the topic of the 'Utopia' and its effect on the others. It's a horse they've beaten to death already.

"Just relax, you say to the claustrophobic mass murderer. Relax in the tiny box that numbs my senses and even the dream world has me alone." He's still glaring at Allen, bristling with anger. Any time he's forced back in there he nearly breaks down. Why does this idiot keep wasting his time with him? He's a hopeless cause. At least he'll admit that.

The room the boxes are in themselves has no exit. Allen himself must teleport in go have access to it. He moves aside, Allowing Batsu to exit the box. A gesture of his hand enables a small set of steps to appear,connecting the box to the ground.

They have this same sort of exchange every few days. If Allen’s irritated with him, then every few weeks.

“Hell doesn’t exist anymore, Batsu.”

Those stairs are kind of a jerk move. If he didn’t know any better, the boy probably would’ve tripped and broken his face as he walked down.

“Figure of speech, ass.” He glares, dusting himself off and shuddering a bit. He curses under his breath when he realizes he’s shaking. He never did get rid of his claustrophobia and he loathes it. “How about ‘drop dead’? Or are you ‘immortal’ like the dumb bat was?”

His sole intention is to piss off Allen right now.

Allen waves a hand and the stairs vanish, but the box remains open. The interior automatically cleans itself-the blankets, sheets and pillow swapping themselves out for new ones.

“Sickle was never immortal. Just a supreme pain-in-the-ass to kill. Unfortunately for you, i’d be more difficult, seeing as how I absorbed his powers.”

He seems completely calm, glancing over at Batsu disinterestedly. The mask isn’t with him. 

“Still deciding not to join Utopia?”

"... You're stupidly literal minded even now, huh." He'll sigh and cross his arms. He said immortal in a mocking tone, trying to guilt the other. But that clearly didn't work.

"Utopia would be the chance to tear you limb from limb and watch this pathetic place fall apart. Quit calling this garbage 'Utopia'." He's disgusted.

How is a mass simulation where everyone in reality in comatose a "happy ending" for them all? Especially the people who can't join because of 'issues' like claustrophobia or general hatred of the concept because this is NOT humane, even for the non-humans.

“..In this universe, there are many gateways to travel through. I can also use the box at a hyper setting to see their history. It’s.. Very uncommon for a universe to have a successful Utopia.” It’s almost impossible, actually.

“Utopia is a confusing thing, and is even more difficult to comprehend before its creation. The problem in this universe was that at the startup of Utopia, you and other special cases.. Like MA, or Hansel and Gretel, didn’t automatically go through the process everyone else did.”

“I failed to take extra steps before Utopia to prevent that, so now I have to find a way to jumpstart your utopia-process’ individually.”

“If you help your Allen figure out their process, there shouldn’t be an issue getting you into Utopia.”

He attempts to explain, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. “Does that.. Make any sense?”

“...” His eyes go wide with shock as Heavenly goes on. “... What... That’s...” His mind is working overtime as he tries to comprehend this. If it’s rare for Utopia to be a success, then what happens if it fails? Is nobody happy? Do they just cease to be? Groundhog loop, even?

“... I... I guess that makes sense. I just... wanna go back...” he mumbles. “Can you just... get me back to my ‘world’ or whatever?”

The fire leaves his hand, and he seems to calm down greatly. “I don’t mean to scare you, but you aren’t thinking.”

“You’re not from my universe. I’m not the one you need to talk to,” He explains. “What’s been done in my universe cannot be undone. It’s not just the other ‘you’ that’s suffered because of it. Many people have.”

“All you can do is try to create something better.”

Now he feels bad for scaring him.

Allen teleports quickly, powers being enhanced after absorbing Sickle’s for the creation of Utopia.

“Calm down and stop throwing a fit,” Heavenly snaps, voice booming across the room as a ball of fire appears in his hand. “You have no right to complain about things that don’t involve you, or you don’t understand.”

“There is very rarely a case where a universe duplicates. You need to work it out with your Allen. If you want to be allowed in Utopia, help him create one that you can be in. My Utopia is this way because I had to create it myself.”

“Do I make myself clear?”

“Wh...” He’s searching frantically for where the other disappeared to. When he finally sees the other, he flinches. Instead of just being scared of Allen in theory, he’s actively terrified of the sudden commanding tone in his voice-- and is that fire in his hands? ... Copycat.

“A... A-Alright...” he drops the knife and raises his hands up mercifully, fear plastered on his face. The way the mothy is speaking right now... it’s way too similar to her. Does everyone become that way when they have power?
