“Body Positivity is only for fat people.” This is a message that someone DMed me... Telling me that judging by my profile I have a lot of “thin privilege” and because I can shop in major stores in a mall "you don't need body positivity" 😳🧐😢🙃😏😂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I was disappointed that I’d been following someone with a very large following on Instagram, who was now telling me I couldn't share my message about body positivity and self-love because I have "thin priviledge". Fun Fact ✨We all sweat and that’s a good thing! It’s our bodies natural way of cooling itself down from overheating and ridding itself of toxins. Sweating = good, BO (body odour) = not particularly pleasant and for some, the idea of swapping their trusty antiperspirant for a natural deodorant is out of the question but I think you’ll change your mind after your read my blog! I ♥️ the saying "you're not alive to just pay bills and lose weight". But in a world that tells us making money and being thin is everything, how do we live up to this mantra? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I haven't been on a diet in years and I'm happy and healthy! Here's why I think you need to stop trying to lose weight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The scale can't measure your worth because you are worthy of being happy no matter what the scale tells you. Think about how losing weight is serving you? Is it making you feel better, or are you trying to do it because you think you need to look a certain way? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Go to the gym or find a workout that you love because it makes you happy! Not to torture yourself to "fit in" or look thin. You should be working towards goals like, sleeping better, peace of mind/being calm, feeling stronger, more mobility or a sharper mind 🧠🍃 It shouldn't be about how you look but how you feel. And trust me I know this is easier said than done but YOU CAN work towards feeling better about yourself, you just have to work on your mindset. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With that, I'm heading to the gym because I like lifting weight to feel strong and improve my posture 💪🤓 Plus I need to give my eyes/brain a break from the screen.
