Being a crafty person and making a bunch of things often prompts people to ask "oh wow did you make that?" And like, the short answer is: yes I did, but the long answer is: well, no, the pattern isn't mine, but I did choose and buy the fabric/yarn and sewed it together/crocheted it/knitted it myself. I used a reference for that drawing/painting, I didn't come up with it myself. That ceramic piece was insired by a poem and a painting made by different people. What I'm trying to say is, everything I make requires other people to make their own thing first, and then I get inspired by them to do my own thing. So I can't really call anything truly mine, because really it's just a bunch of inspirations and experiences of others (and me) put together by my hands. Does that answer your question

things that made me stop wanting to die that require no effort whatsoever
change the color used to highlight text on your laptop
move the pictures on your wall
stack whatever clutter is in your room into piles even if you don’t have time to clean it all
slightly vary your commute, even just by one street
change where you sit and scroll aimlessly on your phone even if it’s only to the chair in your room instead of your bed
drink water or juice out of a wine glass in the morning because nothing is real
shower with the lights off, without music
buy $3 flowers at trader joe’s—they look bad next to the more expensive ones but they look so good in your room
start typing things you don’t post into your notes. your thoughts can be worth documenting even if you don’t deem them worth sharing
wake up super early just once. you don’t have to make it a habit it’s just extra satisfying to go to bed that night
listen to the entirety of your favorite album from 2015
Almost all of these are about variety. Humans need stimulation! We need enrichment! We literally cannot do the same thing every day!
The other day I was feeling miserable, so I hopped on a bus and rode it all the way back to where I’d started, and my brain, which had finally had some proper stimulation via new environments, was suddenly ready to go again!
This is why taking walks/drives and trying new hobbies are good for you! Don’t turn yourself into a sad zoo animal! You need some pumpkins to roll around in your enclosure!

I was cleaning the kitchen and noticed my roommate left part of an onion on the counter after cooking and for some stupid fucking reason instead of asking about it like a normal person I went to them holding the onion in my hand as if it were an injured bird and asked “what do you desire of his fate”

sorry for the horrible photos, but here is my first sheep to swatch !! the dark single was my first attempt on my grandma's wheel, and the white single was spun on my eew!! i have no clue how many meters this is.
i do wish the yarn was more consistent, but it's okay (don't mind the somehow way too tight cast off)
She's done! So happy to have this one finished, especially since it looks pretty much how I imagined it. Happy New Year, friends. So many more quilts to make in 2026.
Here is the one (1) singular sock I managed to finish before the 25th. So, yes, my sister did in fact open a box containing one sock on Christmas.
Not to worry, the second one is in the works! She’ll get it… at some point.

Day 6 (December 13)
Today's fiber is The Algorithm from Hipstrings, 75% merino and 25% bamboo (rayon/viscose). The merino is mostly a deep, almost black, navy with dark purple and cyan bamboo, which reminded me of the luminous lagoon (left side of bottom right photo) I spun last year (the blue in lagoon is mulberry silk). In person I see the purple in The Algorithm, but it doesn't pop.
One of the projects I have in the back of my mind is a series of blends with 75% dark wool and 25% bright silk. After I finish all the other projects in my queue.

Something interesting about the fact that crone goddesses are associated with spinning wheels/weaving, and also associated with winter and fate and inevitability. And the fact that grandmothers love to crochet and sew and knit. Aren't we all gods and goddesses.
