Day in the life at 2632.
I designed this for a lithograph, which this is clearly not. It's what was printed onto the plate. Using the mouth and eyes I sketched randomly, a ship pattern I made in illustrator, and some messing in photoshop I made a thing. I like it, and it kind of marks my decision to switch my concentration to printmaking which is just a long time in coming. To put it simply, I haven't loved art like thins in a long time.
Just a doodad I did. My professor from printmaking has inspired me to use hatching techniques more in my digital artwork. It looks really nice I think. I ended up using them in a final project for electronic illustration that I'm not too crazy about still debating on posting it here but I suppose it's nice in ways
I'm going to start using this blog again. I have so much stuff that never sees the light. So my professional website full of self adverts aside, I'm going to start posting my sketches and whatnot here. And we'll just see how it goes.
I made this thing. I'm stupidly proud of it. Because I did it in SAI which I am not comfortable with and have literally never used before and it was my first time drawing with a tablet and it's soo pretty!
I was obsessing over ink this weekend.
I literally just had black paper and white charcoal within reach. #art #doodling #imobsessedwith #linework #ifyoucantell
Detail shots of my latest piece. Finished piece will be up soon hopefully!
A doodle a day keeps the boredom at bay. I know Iām hilarious.
Anyway, this is the first of a few little things that have come along thanks to the purchase of a new pen. The quote is from a Cryaotic video.
Just a little doodle I did in honor of the hobbit.
Made a gif of this little sketch I did yesterday. I call him Manny and the cat is called Chester.
I didnāt like the original of this at all. I hate how I look in the reference photo. So... I messed with it in Illustrator also. This is likely to be the first of many times I do this. The birds are from my sketchbook. Once upon a time they were a hipster tattoo idea, but then I grew up so now it's just a pretty design.
I didnāt really like this, looks too schoolproject-y, so I messed with it in Illustrator. This is likely to be the first of many times I do this. The inspiration for the lines and triangles came from an artist friend of mine that's studying fibers. Her texture and pattern work is amazing. I'm not crazy about the drawing because I look like a horse and the white lines aren't straight cause I wasn't as comfortable with illustrator as I am now, but I really enjoy the flat 2D triangles leaving a drop shadow on the figure. It's pretty much the only redeeming quality.
I made this for a compost poster contest. It came out really well. I really love the combination of flat implied texture and line that I was working with. Overall I love the look of it, but at the same time it made me mad because my computer at the time was not really up to the task of illustrator and I'm okay now only because of the recent purchase of my spiffy macbook ;)
I am absolutely in love with this painting I did. I'm going to try to work on this stupid thinned out style for animation and comics. I really need to work on faces as well and I feel like I really nailed it with this piece, like they look like the races they were in my reference photo. But I need to work on expression more. If I had any time I'd take a figure or life drawing class so I could learn in a professional environment, but I can't afford to so I'll just have to get myself in gear and work on it on my own.
