it genuinely hurts my heart that so many people felt fear after watching mike wheeler’s ending. i’ll always believe his character carries deep internalized homophobia, even if it’s never explicitly confirmed, and seeing how his arc unfolded made some viewers recognize their own repression so strongly that they came out because they didn’t want to live that way. that’s powerful, but it’s also heartbreaking. Stranger Things has always been a story about protecting the outcasts and giving the “different” kids somewhere to belong, so it feels unfair that some queer viewers walked away feeling more afraid than affirmed. if you see yourself in mike wheeler, or in will byers, or you’re queer and scared and trying to survive quietly, please know you are not alone. you deserve stories that make you feel safe. you deserve love that doesn’t require shrinking. you deserve representation that feels like hope instead of hiding. you deserve sunshine.💛
