1. Very very briefly say what work was completed in the session. Including the warm up and any meetings.Outline the tasks. This should only be a few sentences, no more! Discuss how you used any source material e.g. script, image, mask, issue or piece of music.
Perfecting all the scenes, making sure we’re reacting to everything that is happening in scenes, making sure the scene looks alive and not just the people who are talking in that scene. Also, running through all the songs making sure everyone knows the lines and how they’re singing it.
Personal improvement was working on my character chubby chuff, knowing what kind a person he was, improvising him trying to flirt with the ladies in the club and also working on comedic timing
2. Discuss what progress you made. How you felt. How the work was developed or how it moved forward. What new work or new ideas were created or developed? How are you interpreting your roles and the scene. Skills and acting technique used.
I’ve work on my characters Sid and Chubby Chuff on their scenes, working on character development as I want the audience to find both characters intriguing to watch and know enough about them to have an opinion on them. For Sid I worked on the banter that he has with Bill as they both try to annoy Monty in Act 1 scene 3 also making sure I’m staying in the accent for the character.
For chubby chuff I was working on how he acts in the club with the women, having him try to flirt with the women before his act , when he does start his act being really friendly with the audience asking them if they’re ok and having a good week.
Also I have been practicing songs , know what pitch I am singing songs for and making sure that I pronounce the words correctly.
3. What was the effect of what you did?
Practicing Vocals helps with improving the pitch and pronouncing
It’s help bring out my character more, making the character more relatable to the audience. Wanting them not to like either of my characters as they are sexist towards the women.
4. Evaluate how effective the work completed was and say why it worked well / less well.
Work complete these weeks have gone well as we run through everything in the play, perfecting the little things in the scenes and practicing the songs. Could have gotten better if we worked quicker as we could have gone through songs for longer.
5. Discuss strengths and weaknesses. ( These should be targeted in your rehearsal schedule each week.)
Strengths
Worked well together in scenes helping one another with songs
Improved on accents, making the characters more realistic
Weaknesses
Had to go through scene more than once to get accents/acting correctly.
Struggled to move quickly through dance scenes
6. Discuss the levels of professionalism from yourself and the group. How suitable is the work at this stage for a public audience?
We work quite professionally as we wanted to do as much run throughs as possible, helping each other out so we can perfect scenes/songs. The show would be suitable for the public to watch at this point though it can still be improved
7. What do you personally need to improve on? Think about attitude and skill. Listen and respond to your feedback your director is grading you! Use correct terminology for movement, vocal, characterisation and stage techniques
I need to improve on my characters development, making sure Sid is teasing Monty more , and working on projection for both characters so I can be full heard by the audience especially as chubby chuff when he’s telling his jokes as its important to the story and to his character development.
8. Discuss how your character has developed. Talk about vocals, your physicality and general characterisation. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT!
I’ve improve my vocals for Sid as he now has a stronger sounding accent in his scene, also work on his character when he’s speaking making sure he sounds patronising when talking about the girls wanting equal pay. Also, worked on his physicality as he’s sitting down making sure he looks really relax as if he’s not expecting to move any time soon, do this by having legs wide open with a drink in hand and beginning to eat Monty’s food.
Working with chubby chuff characterisation when he’s heckled by Rita O’Grady, I act surprised by her heckle but calm and collected in the situation to show he’s had this happen to him before and quickly deals with her by making jokes, but then after Beryl grasp the mic I’m actually surprised by her as she’s the first to properly stand up to him
9. What performance techniques have you used during the rehearsal process? What was the result of this?
Improvising with the begging of Chubby Chuff act with his greeting to make his character friendlier at the begging, having the audience believe a nice character till he tells his sexist jokes.
Focus on vocals , making I’m loud enough, also that I have two different accents between Chubby Chuff and Sid so they are different from one another
10. Briefly discuss what needs to happen next lesson or what you need to remember to do, bring or complete for next session. Always do this in the form of an action plan. Please don’t write gain more confidence or learn my lines. Be specific and pinpoint exactly what you need to do and why. When and how you will do it between sessions.
Do more run throughs as we can then get a better idea of how exactly the transitions will move, so each scene we move from one to another smoothly.
Perfecting my comedic timing as chubby chuff the jokes land with the audience , so they can react to the jokes being said.
