He catches sight of the red tint in her cheeks almost immediately, a soft hum leaving in response to a reaction he’s fairly used to but would never get tired of. It might not have been entirely by his doing, but the blond can’t deny that there’s something about a blushing girl’s cheeks that doesn’t fail to bring him to simpler times, as peculiar as it sounds. Perhaps turning to his skirt chaser persona might help him alleviate the uneasiness that has been nagging at him after being woken up from his not-so-eternal rest in such an unceremonious manner. He wouldn’t bet much on it, he knows himself well enough to realize relief wouldn’t stay for long, but it’s worth giving it a shot.
At the positive answer, he nods, finally claiming the seat in front of her as his own. ❝ Thank you. I would’ve hated to inconvenience a pretty thing like you. ❞ There’s a moment of silence after her question as he slightly sits back, glancing around the place once again. ❝ It certainly looks like it. These people must be regulars, too. It’s not usual for such a small establishment to be booming with life like this. ❞ Eyes still wandering about, he finally returns his attention to the girl and shakes his head, a hearty chuckle leaving his lips right after. ❝ Ah, where are my manners? I’m Caesar Zeppeli. ❞ Delicately, almost as if he was afraid his touch might break her, he takes her hand in his. ❝ May I have your name? ❞
HONEYED words only served to fan the flames burning brightly beneath the girl’s face and leave her near speechless. Such a stark contrast to Haji’s subtle and gradual affections, if not a complete opposite. One would think that she would have been faced with such a brazen and flirtatious attitude at least once on her many, many years. Perhaps she did, but simply hadn’t taken notice, due to a fixation on her goal and the fact her knight was always at her side to quell the more obvious advances.
How was she to react?
It took her a moment, but Saya finally managed to untangle the knot her tongue had decided to tie itself in. “It’s just sitting together, right? I dunno how it’d be an inconvenience...” The girl’s eyes wandered, looking everywhere but at the Italian seated before her, her words trailing off behind them. “But, uh! If there are this many regulars, that just shows that this place is pretty great, right?” All the more reason to look forward to her meal. Maybe thinking over her order would be a good distraction from the lump in her throat... but that would just be rude, now wouldn’t it? She’s being spoken to, after all.
His touch is a spark conducted through high-strung nerves, ultimately drawing the Queen’s attention back his way as it pulls her out of her thoughts with a jump.
“My name? It’s... Saya. Otonashi Saya. It’s nice to meet you... Caesar.” Oh goodness, she hoped she pronounced his name right. She may have worked with Americans at length, but her English was still far from the best.
