I of course am a big fan of LietPol too, but there’s plenty of others, and tbh I’m not going to pass up an opportunity to convert anyone to one of my side ships as well (EngPol / FraPol / Feli Feli (or ItaPol or Feli pair or whatever we’re calling North Italy/Poland … )
this is largely going to be taking you through my Fics Recs page because … I’m lazy… but in the past I was unlazy and made that so!
I think I did win a couple people round to EngPol type ish things, with stunning results, such as @meadowlarkx’s don’t mean to be forward and @hinotorihime‘s To see the rose and woodbine twine. And Lindz’s Before the flight (WW2 pilots again – but see also a couple happier AUs!) And there were a few gems long before I even came along!! Every time my heart breaks down is an all time fave.
There are a few more gen pieces about World War Two I’d rate - pretty heavy stuff, obviously: Last Resort; Tempest. Also I really really enjoy Poland’s appearance in To The Dawn, which is mainly England and Canada but with a great ensemble Allies scene!
On a lighter note, Are You There God, It’s Me Canada? will always retain a place in my heart. If you read one unfinished hetalia high school AU, make it this one.
There isn’t actually whole heap of France/Poland, and it does tend to include/reference LietPol too, heh. but see I tell my piano the things I used to tell you for alll the 1800s dramatic pianist!poland angst!
Someone tackled a prompt for Poland/Israel through history - though only up til the 19th century - with what I think was a lot of tact and grace: God Dwells Here.
Historic and mostly gen of various time periods: A Little More Spark - Poland and Hungary and an attempted uprising against Austria, until Russia gets involved. Ouch. A Thousand Candles for Poland under martial law. Veeery nice sharp characterisation here too! THIS IS LIKE 10000 WORDS of historical fic centring on Germany and Poland With a Human Face - I don’t know if the author has even ever de-anoned??
That made me think there must be a lot more PolHun out there than I know of…! The one that I remember though is @sparklingdali‘s lovely lil AU here!
Daegaer writes a lot of LietPol too, but see also this feat. Poland and Austria, and Chopin’s music of course; and uhhh a Hut 33 crossover is a bit niche perhaps but I love these ones too, and honestly they’re so well written you don’t even need to be familiar with the source material. @lithuanias The Fall of Eagles feat. Poland and Austria is technically lietpol in the background too, but foregrounds on their discussion and relationship at this point in history.
On the Feli Feli side there is V E R Y LITTLE but allegro ma non troppo is purely lovely.
In Sickness and In Language - here’s Poland with aph Macau! And by the same author, a nice quietly thoughtful Poland in A Complete Day.
gen: Small Acts of Resistance (1980s TV boycott);
gen feat. Russia Borders 1945 / Mirror in the Mirror
France/Poland: Nor Custom Stale (moden day; Christmas; sweet) / The famous Chopin (ok Poland is only mentioned in this but significantly) / as long as there is dancing (nyo!frapol; Paris in the 1800s) I also have a NSFW nyo!frapol one / into exile (angsty, not really shippy; 1940) / a whole mega-angsty post-partitions series including Arrival, Leavetaking, Respite
England/Poland: a whole fairly angsty World War Two mini-series including Piano Night, Aglow, Magnificent, cups of tea, No Greater Ally / Elliptical (like my first hetalia fic!)
Other: the mermaid (gen/light pruspol; AU); forget (feli feli; AU?); the sky all around (feli feli post-partitions); elemental (nyo!po gen; pretentiousness; faint mentions of all the pairings) … untitled Korra crossover (makoland :D pls don’t take this one too seriously)
I’ve probably forgotten a bunch.
