Several notes on the backstory:

(...) istniała ich zaledwie garstka / dzięki czemu nie znały wojny[,] żyły w pokoju ("there was only a handful of them / thanks to which they didn't know war[,] lived in peace") - keeps the original meaning that they didn't know war because there were so few of them. English translations tend to treat "they were few" and "they were peaceful" as unrelated statements.

After saying that those changed using the Mask would need way more energy, which meant an increased need to kill: Istniało ryzyko, że za nowe moce przyjdzie zapłacić wymarciem wszelkiego stworzenia ("There was a risk that the new powers would have to [one day] be paid for with the extinction of all creation") - Only a vague future risk and not at all a certainty, as with the original version's uncertain だろう

A small thing that doesn't matter but I think oomf might like the phrasing: Kars's "don't you want to not fear anything" is Nie chcecie pozbyć się uczucia strachu!? ("Do you not want to get rid of the feeling of fear?"). Means the same thing, but sure sounds like Kars would really love to get rid of the emotion itself if he could.

Zamiast zginąć, geniusz zmasakrował cały swój klan... ("Instead of perishing [being killed], the genius massacred his entire clan...") - keeps the 逆に, aka that thing I never shut up about. THANK YOU.

Esidisi is not just a companion, he is a "faithful companion" (wierny towarzysz). Aww.

Likely due to some grammar confusion, 自分を生んだ親 is mistakenly treated as referring to the parents of *the infants* rather than of Kars. So it's no longer stated Kars killed his own parents, instead the infants were "unaware that [Kars] was the murderer of their own parents" (nieświadomych, że to on jest mordercą ich rodziców). I recall seeing at least one English translation that fumbled it in a similar way. Araki writes the most confusing run-on sentence in the world, asked to leave the backstory.

what i have learned so far from writing fics is that if you’re writing an actual book you need to proof read and draft and all of that, while if you’re just writing fanfics you just start and never look back
