Into the Dreamscape P.4: Me? A hero? What a joke.

Epiphaneia's hero story is more of a tragedy I can't really draw (no, really, I can't draw tragedy scenes even if my life depended on it), so I'll make a long story short: During a children's day at an art school her family owns and runs for a good long time, there was a circus event, where there was no prejudice against monsters and food was free, so it was full with both humans, monsters, elderly and kids. A group of monster hunters, following a hint, infiltrated themselves in the event and caused a lot of damage to the school in order to hunt as many monsters as they could.

Authorities response was extremely slow for the tragedy, both due to the holiday and interference, so in a fit of rage and desperation from watching so many dear people from her life die in less than an hour of hostage, E.P. took a hunting knife, hid under her costume sleeves and started running. Her target was the leader, she got him with help from Eurydice, but payed the price with a shotgun wound ar the side of her torax. No other hunter was killed, all being captured by other staff and students before the police arrived.

At that point Epiphaneia was no longer conscious to witness the aftermath.

Yes, E.P. is dressed up as a pierrot clown. She'd do a bunch of acrobatic stunts to entertain kids during the event. It's handmade and was destroyed by the paramedics and the shotgun wound. Her body was damaged enough to the point she can no longer run as fast or do her acrobat stunts. So as much as she adores the circense arts, she switched to theater permanently once she was physically and mentally healthy enough to handle the load.

I will present the monsters at the first page with character sheets slowly, and they might change with the ongoing development of the game, but for now, they're E.P.'s long time friends and acquintances: Micah (who already has a sheet), Agatha, our dear Orpheus (without the glasses), and Jean.

Into the Dreamscape P.3: Why a hero, princess of the theater?

Fuck you Bil, go to the hardest question as the first one is a dick move. Now no one will be able to make any more questions because you all are going on the trauma express! Congratulations!

Enjoy the trivia of E.P. being a theater actress now that performing aerial acrobats was taken out of her resume by force for... reasons.

If it's not clear enough, Epiphaneia is called princess because she's deemed as the 'stage's little princess' by the troupe and the theater school. She's not the only one, Orpheus and Eurydice are also called prince and princess of the stage, all three being there the longest, even if they're not the oldest ones.

Yes, the show in the flashback is Hadestown, I have an emotional attachment to Epic 3 and Wait for Me, and I did say once or thrice that E.P. is a theater kid. Yes, E.P.'s role is Eurydice. Yes, the green apple combo had their individual jealousy fits because she was 'someone else's lover' up on stage.

(There is a whole silly story I can tell if you guys like to see, but the original role she'd have was Hermes, but had to change due to lovesick Orpheus (her brother, not the character in the theater) struggling to do his job as Hades. Dude is a professional actor and cries being "mean" to his partner on a GODDANM PLAY PRETEND! I absolutely need to draw this.)

I went 'fuck it' this time and didn't polish all the art this time, I'm tired. Tbh I have so much ambition that makes the process of telling this story a nightmare for myself. If anyone has any idea of how to make Ibis Paint more effective when it comes to doing comic sheets, please let me know. I CAN'T KEEP GOING LIKE THIS I'LL GO INSANE.

Finished Ticket Taker and the crew is finally all here!

Wanted TT to look like the most plain guy out of them all while still having interesting features (his design is kinda loosely based off of disguise he has at the coffee shop)

i like the idea that he looks older than he actually is but it’s mainly from how he styles and carries himself

not sure what would be his job but probably something related to either law or finances

tbh I am not sure about any of their jobs except Doctor as doctor (lmao) and Pierrot as baker in the coffee shop Ana works at to spend more time with her

Somebody did suggest for all of them to kinda live together like sitcom style but I am still not sure how to play off all of that in terms of when and how they all met and how old everyone is cause this AU would probably by nature would be less dark and more lighthearted since circus, monsters and human trafficking isn’t there (tho I am kinda tempted to make Jester have like a little cult for himself lmao)

If anyone got any ideas or suggestions I am all ears

Into the Dreamscape P.2: A game of questions

[This part took one hell of a lot of time, and with how messy I am with sketches, the next part will take even longer, so I'll be very slow, unfortunately ^^']

So, yes, at this point, Calliope went to the background, letting E.P. take the role of speaking because in the dreamscape, her child is safe, and whatever sign of aggression would be punished accordingly.

I swear I'm not changing Epiphaneia's dress again, this one is her comfy one, the first one was a travel dress and the past versions outfit is an old set. All with a sailor style because it's what she feels comfy with.

Also, I thought it was very silly to make sure Pierrot and Harlequin still fight for E.P.'s attention even after two confirmations of Pierrot somewhat having an upper hand in the duel of hearts with Calliope's reveal of E.P.'s pregnancy and who the father is. Shebloves them both, Pierrot just had the luck of the draw. [Yes, this is an excuse for me to grow a gut and explore poly relationships. I tried to choose for the sake of convenience, but the way Harlequin reacts to physical contact is so... he be cat. Me likes cats]

For now, the first questions will be from Bil, since he's the only one she allows and answers questions, specifically from the three who openly show passive agression towards her.

Epiphaneia late teens/Dreamscape version

E.P. didn't have a good set of cards by the time she was going to high school, after a tragic event akin to either an assassination attempt or a terroristic attack the christmas before her first year, she had shut down her heart to any form of relationship, haunted by the sights of early deaths. She was still kind and would do some volunteer work every now and again, and was even present on a huge milestone regarding the ever dwindling monster population and their rights. But the ammount of stress she was under crushed her ever so slowly.

When she finished high school, Calliope didn't give her any chance to rot inside the house, sending her to a bigger city, with better psichiatric care, therapy and a chance to learn how to coexist around humans, because she's "been cooped up inside her room alone for way too long", resulting on her becoming a barista to compliment the financial support she recieves for her ongoing medical care and housing.

She also returned to her childish addiction of going to carnivals and circus performances, so I'd say the therapy works.

If it wasn't for Calliope's intervention, maybe she wouldn't have developed her MO regarding protecting monsters. What is it, you may ask? Well, it involves a spray bottle with water, a PVC pipe and a copy of the penal code.

And as an excuse to draw as many vintage style, edwardian and victorian sailor clothes and dresses, this specific style of clothing has a sentimental value to E.P. and she uses them as often as times allow.

PS: when I say citizens can't cultivate poppies, I mean the Papaver somniferum kind. The one used in drugs, not the Papaver rhoeas or the Eschscholzia californica, however, as far as my quick researches go, none of the plants in the Papaveraceae are permitted to be cultivated down here on Brazil, including the ornamental kinds. Sad, really. They're some of my favorite flowers (it's almost 2 AM, I'm not digging down into legislations when I should be in bed).

The timeline is kinda fucky in my mind, as I have no clue on how long a travelling circus stays in one place, but this event happens much later, about six to ten months after the first arrival of the circus. I haven't decided if the circus is still around, got found out and fled, or pretended to leave, all I know is E.P. was "left behind", free to visit home at the next long weekend

A Poet in the Making

Micah is described as a naive genious poet, a grumpy kitty, overprotective, skeptic, sensitive and a bit reckless. They have a habit of testing limits, breaking rules and questioning authorities.

A lot of species of monsters tend to idolize Epiphaneia [E.P.] and her relatives as heroes for their pioneering and contributions to the subject of Monsterology, a catch-all term that includes subjects such as biology, sociology, arts and medicine (a specialized branch on vet med because they're the ones who improvize way too much with materials not made for non-human living beings, be it pets, cattle or wild animals). Micah finds it way too much of an exageration, as all who cares to learn finds out how dehumanized the whole family line is, how many members deserted, and the ones who stay had to drown in their obsessions and self imposed tasks to maintain sanity.

They find it a mess and refuses to treat any of them as idols of hope and heroism or shame and ridicule, disobeying direct safety rules, 'diminishing' their achievements and not giving them the respect or disrespect everyone, be it human or monster, expects to be given to them.
