The Freak Circus lineup!

Finally finished the lineup blame Jester for how long it took that man made me doubt any ounce of character design skills I had in me with how many times i redrew him specifically and how much I dragged out finishing up doctor and TT because it meant getting to adapting his design😭

i am still not sure how I feel about him but by this point I am too tired to work on him anymore so he will stay like this lmao

Do you think Ana and the whole, I repeat, the WHOLE circus troupe, COULD, even with the slightest chance, be a great polyamorous couple? But ONLY among themselves?

Imma hold your hand when I say this and I mean it as a person who wishes to give Ana a harem and who loves exploring relationships dynamics lmao

I cannot imagine it working great with Ana and THE WHOLE crew being poly 😭

At most it could work out with Pierrot/Harlequin/Doctor/Ana (and even THAT would be a whole balancing act of its own, ik there is a planned ending for MC to end up with both Pierrot and Harley and I still would like to see how exactly they would make it work but it gotta be a challenge and throw in that giant bird in there and it’s gonna be even more complicated task lmao)

It’s really hard to imagine Ticket Taker and Jester being able to view Ana as safe enough to trust and even if they would after some great deal of time warm up to her it would be the type of trust you provide to your pet to not destroy the house while you are gone lol

I like to think that Ticket Taker keeps as much distance between himself and her as possible because she managed to make him genuinely smile behind the mask once and it MORTIFIED him (with his intense hatred for humans being smitten so seemingly effortlessly was extremely out of character) that he decided that best decision is to avoid her all together because last thing he wants is to get wrapped up in her net and not even notice it

Don’t get me wrong he still treats her with the same disregard, look from above and polite dismissal as any MC it’s just that Ana makes him feel extremely alert because he isn’t stupid enough to underestimate the effect she has on others the townsfolk and crew included

And Jester is basically in the same boat as TT except he isn’t afraid of Ana’s charm because he can see right through it because it’s all the same tactics he applies

Game recognizes game if you will lmao

Except he looks down on her and her execution because he got like decades if not centuries of experience on her so to him her act just feels like child play and the only reason why it works out for her so well is her cute pretty face

I think out of all of them in the TFC it’s hardest for me to imagine anything between Ana and Jester working out, he is just so smart and manipulative and has that shit maxed out on EXP, there is just no way for her to compare and in the same breath Imma be real I am not interested in exploring Ana as Jester’s (or Circus’s in general) obedient pet without any amount of control or agency I just don’t find those dynamics interesting to explore when it comes to Ana

Does Ana drink/smoke? If not, would she judge others for doing so?

She doesn’t!

She kinda looks down on those habits but in that practical sense of “Keep it up, you are going to make me richer when I am going to be your doctor.”

Ana thinks of habits like that as more socially accepted version of self-harm but doesn’t really pay much of mind to it to really care about others doing it

How tall is Ana? She looks super small next to the circus crew but I'm not sure.

Also because as a big bosomed woman myself she looks like she has a g cup and on a frame that small she gotta have back problems.

Oh Ana is actually pretty tall! A solid 5’7-5’8

It’s just that the Circus Crew are all tall as hell so they make her look small 😭

As for her bra size she probably gotta be like 28K UK bra size, so yeah back pain is absolutely her constant state of existence especially with profession she decided to pursue (surgeon lmao)

She fairs well enough because she has a good enough muscle tone to keep her posture proper but I definitely imagine her feeling tired by the end of the day lmao (she is absolutely planning to get a breast reduction eventually)

I think Pierrot would definitely offer her a shoulder rub/back massage since he wants to be of use so badly

I feel like an asshole but I realized I don't actually know Ana's race - I know she is Southeast Asian but I want to know specifically her race because I'm interested in her. Sorry if you've already answered.

Oh, nah Ana is East Asian! Chinese 🇨🇳 specifically

I mentioned it several times and referenced it in her clothes but people keep confusing her for South East Asian or I had couple of people say she looks mixed black and I think it’s because I draw her with deep skin tone

Majority of people tend to associate East Asians with very pale skin color and those regions themselves are ridden with heavy colorism and only showcasing paper white skin in movies/shows/art/etc. so I wanted to make it a point to give Ana a very deep skin tone and for her to be still acknowledged as head-turning beauty

It soothes my own past insecurities and traumas to make a dark Asian girl and for her to be consistently referred to as gorgeous since again she at first started as my self-insert and only later grew into a separate character

may i ask just out of curiousity, have you ever thought of any voice claims for Ana? any certain character or something like that you think she might sound like?

Okay I know it’s going to sound very uninspired because she voiced Mulan, but Ming Na Wen!

I took a lot of inspiration from her role as June from Joy Luck Club when fleshing out Ana’s character (general base of experience of a Chinese American immigrant raised by the mother and cultural impact of it all)

But I also ADORE the way Ming’s voice sounds when she voices Madam Kaji from Blue Eyes Samurai, specifically that monologue cause AGH it feels so much like something Ana would say if she let her edges show proper

Ana in general was originally made to be “best reward + worst punishment in one package” type of character so I am glad it works in this settings too

I think the only character I haven’t really came up with proper dynamic for her yet is Jester but he is just generally tricky to play around for me tbh

Ask about Ana. Pushing the boys aside for a moment. You said to get into her good graces approaching her with good intentions is the way to go, AND to not make her see said relationship as transitional Ana and said person would need to go through their fair share of experiences where Ana sees the other person cares about her. How does she act with someone she fully trusts and who actually matters to her? More than the advantages they can offer her?

I will be honest, I didn’t expect that much interest in Ana as a character so I am flattered that people are curious about her!!

When Ana considers you close to her and actually important she start viewing you as part/extension of herself. Your wellbeing is her wellbeing, your sorrow is her sorrow, etc.

She will show genuine acts of care/help that aren’t motivated by what she can get in return because she wants you to be happy because your happiness is her happiness too!

It would go even as far as her actually feeling bad/sorry when she unintentionally hurts you. It wouldn’t go the same way it goes for neurotypical people where we feel bad for others through empathetically feeling it, for Ana it would be more like her cognitively thinking and reflecting on how you were impacted by her actions and while she can’t feel bad for what she did she can feel bad about the resulting damage of it on you and actually want to correct what she did wrong and even sincerely apologize for it!

Pierrot - Pier, Piers, or for funs Perry lmao

Harlequin - Harley, Harlz, Har-Har (my personal favorite) also if you got from more Italian pronunciation Arley

Ticket Taker - Bil. So basically William.

Jester - Jes can be derivative of many names like Jesiah (<-most leaning towards), Jessi, Jesmar, UNIRONICALLY JESUS, etc

Dude I love Ana so much, my favourite thing about her is that she. Kinda sucks? As a person?

Like when people make characters, they usually make them "good with a couple flaws" or "bad with like 2 soft spots" so seeing Ana being this messy concoction of everything is SO COOL. She's not good and she's not bad she just IS and that's probably my favourite thing about her. Cheers for the messiest girl in the world!!

I didn’t want her to read comedically evil and malicious nor did I want her to be good with just a couple of irrelevant flaws

She is just exactly there in the middle because really that’s usually where people are to be read as not really likable but tolerable

I specifically like making women that are like that because usually female characters have to be made to be likable and digestible for usually cis men audiences to appreciate them but that’s really not my target demographic so for girls, gays, hims and thems cheers for messy women👏

Correct me if I am wrong but I think you said Ana starts off as a horny virgin? Its easy to get caught in the fantasy and then be disappointed by reality. How does her first time compare to expectations? Does the bubble pop? Is it better than she imagined? Considering her options for lovers do you think they ruined the chances of most humans?

You remember correctly Ana starts off as a virgin!

Since the game is unfinished and isn’t planned to have explicit content in it I kinda try to think of my own story for events loosely based off of it while I am still fixated

and Imma be real I don’t have a solid plot/direction in my head its just vibes and what I think would be fun to explore in this bitch

Personally I like to imagine that Harlequin was the one to pop the cherry, felt SMUG as fuck about it and generally euphoric to strike so many golds with Ana (as in “stealing” her from Pierrot, getting to sleep with a human who isn’t afraid of what he is, …terrifyingly for him seemingly finding someone who picked him above all else, etc) only to later suffer in gentle hell lmao

Oh and yeah sex was definitely great lmao

I imagine Harley to be competent in that regard partially due to that fact that I think he convinced himself to be unlovable so he banks on sex appeal and skills to make up for it

But nah she would still find idea of having sex with humans appealing! Why limit options lmao

What are some things one can do to get on Ana's good side? She seems very hard to get close to realistically.

Ironically enough it’s as simple as having genuine good intentions towards her!

Usually whenever people interact with her it comes from desire/attraction/jealousy/personal gain/etc

She can sense when someone approaches her genuinely nicely when she doesn’t pick up presence of any motive like that and that would intrigue her to see whatsup so she wouldn’t be really hostile or defensive

I worry about Anna being the kind of person most of the Circus cast would not approve of under her facade. She is leading on most of the circus cast on for thrills with no feelings attached. Will karma catch up to her or will she charm herself out of a grim demise?

Oh, they all know with exception of Pierrot that Ana’s innocence and sweetness is an act only thing they don’t know to full extent is how bad she is behind the mask

Harlequin is entirely too confident and thinks he got her figured out on just assuming that she is an incredibly repressed pervert from abusive traditional household that plays that lamb because that’s the only thing she knows how to do (he aint wrong but its still not deep enough)

Doctor knows about her blood thirst but doesn’t assume anything of it since he kinda projects his own curiosity onto her (which again, not wrong she is incredibly curious about the inner workings of the body but there is way more to it)

Jester and Ticket Taker both know that she is way worse than that and can clock her sadistic tendencies from a mile away

As for her possible demise?

okay real talk this is gonna get pretty heavy

Ana’s ASPD results in her having VERY dull fear response (that’s the reason why people with ASPD experience weaker empathy or social based emotions like shame, guilt, remorse, etc) and incredibly low self preservation

To top it off as I mentioned before she is also incredibly bored

But boredom for people with ASPD experiences differently its more akin to restlessness and need to chase it away with something else that can stimulate you enough out of that state

It’s the reason why people with that diagnosis are prone to reckless and self-harming behaviors because they need to keep chasing that edge

Ana keeps toying with that danger specifically because to her those clowns coming into her life is basically like finding a new drug a new thrill that can keep her entertained because her previous ways of chasing off that bored had gotten dull

She doesn’t do it because she thinks of herself as master manipulator that can outsmart them all and achieve something out of it

She does it because she can and because so far she was able to get away with it

And when it stops working for her? Well it was good while it lasted

She is depressed and passively suicidal already, dying to her has never really been anything of concern

But honestly I am myself not sure how I would imagine her story to end! Game is still unfinished and I would like to see more of those characters to see how I would want to wrap things up and if there would be a way for anything even slightly resembling a happy ending lmao

I only know for sure that even if she does die, she certainly will never be able to be forgotten
