CADMAN CHALLENGE #9 INVENTOR TO SOLIDWORKS ANYCAD
Hello folks, welcome to the CADMAN CHALLENGE, from your friendly neighborhood CADMAN!
Hi folks, here is inventor anycad, I tried it out in hopes to find a way to convince my boss to purchase inventor (we already have solidworks but I want both... XD).
This is a module that was added to inventor last year, with release 2016. I wanted to give it a try and see what I could do with it. I wasn't very impressed since all I can do is click the update button.
I did go and do a whole bunch of research, in fact the whole reason for this video was that I wanted to convince my boss to buy inventor at work. We already have solidworks, but me being the CADMAN I of course had to try. And so this anycad technology really seemed like my best shot, with all things considered.
So from my research, I learned that translation and conversion software/methods for cad files between multiple cad systems is pretty much pointless.
First of all, converting cad files from one system to the next, pretty much means that you will pay for software that you will then use to generate a step file which then gets saved off as the format you want. This file however, does not include all your sketches, workplanes, constraints, geometry, dimensions. It does not bring any features, it does not convert drawings. Its just a step file. I can already do that on my own. No thanks!
Second of all, translation software, or rather methods, is really super ultra fukken expensive. Like, I found this company online that takes your files, and depending on what you request, they take weeks or

Hello folks,
I know its been a while since the last update on the status of the CADMAN CHALLENGE.
So here it is, within the first 4 months of the youtube channel, 2 challenges were uploaded in the form of some 10 ish videos. These videos were uploaded 2 months after the channel's creation.
Views started coming in somewhere around the 4th month which was september (the first being june). Mind you, the CADMAN CHALLENGE pc currently in use was down due to hard drive failure (OUCH!). But nevertheless we pushed through, and by december of 2015 (the 7th month), views really started coming in.
Now, when the 5th challenge was uploaded (Solidworks Concept Mech Robot), the channel nearly instantaneously gained some 150 ish views. It happened overnight all due to that one video of a model that was not even complete, it only showed the head of the robot and nothing more, not even shoulders (which are there now, an updated video upload is on its way btw).
So by then the channel had acquired a mere 500 ish views, and that was great and all, but then the channel grew to about a thousand views by january 2016 (the 8th month). So 5 months into this year, today may 14th 2016, the channel has nearly 2500 views plus 16 subscribers along with a growing network of visitors, engineers, artists, and social media which continue to improve over time.
So yes, I am aware that 2500 views on a youtube channel doesnt really mean much but when you think about it, there was no CADMAN CHALLENGE a year ago, the pc was crap, the CADMAN was broke, and all that mattered was this idea which we now have with us. Please note that of the first two challenges, one video has really been gaining massive views for the channel. The CADMAN's Pride and joy:

I am beginning to see how as we get closer to that 1 year aniversary date, the channel's rate of growth is accelerating. Also keep in mind, that although you dont know it yet there are a wide variety of projects which have been started within this year and are nearly ready to be shared soon through the CADMAN CHALLENGE.
I want to thank everyone who has supported the channel and who has visited the channel, liked the videos, commented, shared, participated in projects, advised me, and overall just supported the massive effort I put forth on a lonely super hot hopeless day one year ago. Thank you, and lets keep it going.
From your friendly neighborhood CADMAN, THANK YOU!

Hi folks, here is my design for a bevel gear support.
This is a 3D Model I created as an introduction to parametric modeling with autodesk inventor. Its a simple part really, I found a picture online, in this 6 part video series I merely start  off the sketching and show you the way parameters, workplanes, and equations work with sketches and features inside inventor.

Here it is folks, the latest and greatest CADMAN CHALLENGE #8 AUTODESK INVENTOR IMPELLER From your friendly neigborhood CADMAN Hi folks, here is my design of a rim for Audi R8.This is a 3D Model I created of an impeller. I used Autodesk Inventor to create the model. Most of the process is shown here, but there are still some items pending before reaching the final result.
Its a crappy model, but the last time I made an impeller was back in 09' so I wanted to just get back into this kind of stuff. I dont feel like an impeller is a heavily complex thing to make so im just showing the general process of it..
Anywho, if you feel the model of the impeller could have been better or you would do things differently, please feel free to mention that in the comments section below.

CADMAN CHALLENGE #7 Autodesk Inventor Part Modeling Audi R8 Rim
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtOSDsSsvEA
Hi Folks, this is a model I created of a rim I saw on an Audi R8 car. I know I know, I used Inventor. I don't mean to spam, but Im new here so I'm hoping my content and I wont get removed. If you really dont want to see Inventor videos here that's cool. I actually work accross multiple cad programs on a daily basis.. Yeah I know, COOL!
Anywho, if you decide to let this inventor post stay then here are some topics I'd like to go over. By the way, I do work with solidworks on a daily basis and have made videos of solidworks as well, so if anything I can just share those.
Back to the Audi R8 Rim, I chose to work on it because it seemed like a decent challenge. Yes, I prefer working on challenging projects. No I dont think I did the best, but yes I did work on it, and the challenging part to me was the detail on the side of the rim.
Its tough to describe with words, but the jist of it is that if I imagine all the fillets are erased, then its just a bunch of flat surfaces, or curved surfaces with sharp corners. Idunno folks, it just seemed like to get the shapes in there I would have to really think it through.
And I DID! Yes gimme a cookie I earned. Anyway before I let this post become a memoir, I started by making a mock up or test model. Its not shown in the video but I made a model with no scale or dims, no fillets, nothing just the bare basic shape. I repeated the process of creating this model like 3 times.
Then I started the real deal. I took a model of another rim I had designed a while back which I really liked. I removed all the shapes and was left with just a blank rim. Then I started modifying the curves and thicknesses and what not. Then I went and started generating that shape I was talking about.
Originally I thought I could just make one extrude cut and then another extrude add, and pattern them. Inventor was like "NOPE!" Yeah so I had to try it several times, its kinda crazy. But eventually I got it. I feel like some of the fillets are missing or just wrong radius. I also noticed that the outer lip on the rim is way too wide compared to the pictures I found online. In any case, this is the video I uploaded.
I hope you enjoy it..
P.s. I used after effects to make the intro/outro animations of the video, I used bandicam to record the cad model, I used audacity and some music I found online to make my own music (crappy I know Im not an artist DEAL WITH IT!), I used inventor to make the model, I used inventor to make the renderings, and I used moviemaker to join all the videos (I had alot of short 10 min files) with the music and AE animations.
This was a long ass post by your friendly neighboorhood CADMAN! THANKS!
Please dont forget to like, share, and subscribe and leave your creative comments and questions.
So I spent much of today experimenting with CAD and 3D modeling software and designed this D'ni Timepiece. While its not quite finished as I have yet to work out a satisfactory way to emboss the numerals onto the various rings, and I have not even begun to think of how the mechanism would work, I think you get a pretty good idea of how it works.
As a happy and unintended coincidence, one of the rendering options in the software I use makes it look very similar to a Myst or Riven style object.
It measures everything from Vaileetee (D'ni Months) on the top ring, down to Prorahntee (D'ni Seconds) on the bottom ring.Â
I’d be happy to hear your thoughts and suggestions so please ask and comment away.
