Be careful what you wish for.

Caelus:

Marcellus says if the planet had gingerbread men, he’d stay there.

((Then so would I.))

I just hope they’d have ice cream too. Maybe it would only be in red or pink flavours?

I score the first goal, but Marcellus quickly scores one back. That shot was way too fast for me to block my goal in time! I would compliment him back, but already feel a competitive buzz kicking in… I decide my strategy should be to avoid direct shots, and keep playing angles. I set up a new shot, and ping it to the side.

I sense Marcellus’s thoughts turn sad, he must be thinking of… all we’ve lost… For some reason, I feel a little less sad than I did before I went into the pod. So it’s my turn to comfort Marcellus.

“Things will be happy again one day, Marcellus. I know they will, even if I don’t know how. Just like after Mother… and we thought all hope was lost… but it wasn’t.”

I still miss her, but it’s not painful anymore like it was at first. I’m grateful for all the good memories, even though we’ll never get to make any more together…

Caelus:

I nod in thanks to Marcellus about the drone. I’m glad they’re not on the same ship as us, it will be nice to have a break from them. [Has technically had a month’s break but it feels like yesterday for him.]

Marcellus seems very excited remembering Queen Rubyrose! I almost wonder whether he had a CRSUH on her… But I got it wrong about Cece, so I’m probably wrong now too ;)

He talks of a planet of red heads.

((Maybe they’d have lots of gingerbread men there too?))

He gives me the choice between blackjack and a shooter game.

“Maybe a new game would be better? That way neither one of us will have an advantage.”

I’m sure Marcellus’s soldier skills would make him good at any shooter game, and of course I would triumph in blackjack…

I try to find a game that doesn’t have cards or guns, and stumble upon one called ‘Air Hyockey’. The aim seems simple enough, score ‘goals’ and stop the other person scoring to win. I shoot the little ‘puck’ at an angle to his goal, hoping my physics skills will be more helpful than his faster reflexes.

Caelus:

“Thanks.” I say to Marcellus, as he gets me some water. It’s good to feel taken care of.

He says I can take some of his drones to replace the two lost. I wonder which type Michael needs more- science or military? Probably neither, but we might as well keep the numbers the same.

“One should do, that keeps it even.” I say as a compromise. I wonder if whichever one he picks will want to change his name from a weapon to an ice cream flavour?;)

I nod at Marcellus’s statement at not feeling important enough to have anything named after him. Same goes for me. But I wonder…

((Do you think he ever named anything after the Queen he almost became consort to, when he was Lastlight?))

I was too young to remember her name, though I think she was a red head, so perhaps Marcellus paid more attention? ;)

Marcellus says it’s good that they kept me in longer, but I sense fear and sadness in his mind. I try to comfort him.

“Yeah, we’re both healed and together now. Things are going to be better than they were before.”

I pat him on the shoulder, then go over to the box he points out. There’s not a lot in there- I have no clean outfits left to change into, and I’d guess any food products couldn’t be disinfected and still edible. But there is a tablet, so I retrieve it and go back over to Marcellus.

“Want to play some games? Cece told me that most of the old card games have online versions now, I’m sure the same is true for most things.”

Caelus:

I’m grateful for the vending machines. There are no frozen ones serving ice cream (oh, I guess we’re never going back to that ice cream place where we took the photo…) There also seems to be a shortage of candy, so I buy a fruit pot and something savoury called ‘potato chips’. I offer Marcellus a share of my food while he talks about the drones.

Poor guys, I wonder if it was fate (since they didn’t get ice cream names)? It sounds like they got their wish before they died, so maybe that makes it better? I just try not to think about it, I’ve already lost so much recently…

Marcellus speaks more about Grandmother Rainbow. I don’t know whatever happened to her, but that’s probably for the best, considering the possibilities… Marcellus suggests that maybe Michael named some things on the planet after her.

((Would you want him to name anything after you?)) I ask him privately, curious, before replying to his statement out loud.

“Maybe, I just hope it’s respectful…” And not something like a giant rainbow hot air balloon, like we saw on King Day…

I give Marcellus a sad look when he tells me what he’s been up to. It all sounds either scary or boring.

“I’m sorry. I wouldn’t have minded not being green, if it meant I could have been let out and seen you sooner. Just so you know, in case anything like this happens again.”

I hear the strange sounds, but just block them out and act like nothing’s wrong.

“So… did they let you keep your tablet?”

Caelus:

I’m glad when Marcellus suggests leaving, and we don’t have to talk to Michael or any of the others first. I follow him to the quarantine room.

“Do they have food there?”

If it’s been a whole month, so I’m already quite hungry!

On the way over, Marcellus tells me that the mall world was destroyed. Another planet gone… I hope everyone was evacuated first, but decide not to ask… He says one of the drones was thrown into he sun, so there’s definitely one casualty.

“Which one was it?” I ask, feeling a little sad. The drones were annoying, but they were so new to life, I couldn’t really blame them.

When we get transported somewhere else, Marcellus tells me the singing man won’t hurt us… er, always good to hear… Then he gives me some good news, that the females got away and are on a new planet now, including Cece! He shows me pictures, and it’s covered in rainbows.

“Grandmother would have liked that world.” ;)

I look around the quarantine area, not seeing a lot to do…

“What about you, Marcellus, what’ve you been up to while I was asleep?”

Caelus:

I blink in surprise when Marcellus tells me I’ve been asleep for so long. No wonder he sounded so sad!

((I’m sorry you had to be by yourself for all that time!))

We’ve already lost so much, I can’t imagine how I could cope without him…

((Let’s do something fun together, next time we’re allowed.)) I say to cheer him up.

I smile at first when he pouts, but then realise I misinterpreted why he was speaking strangely. He felt bad, because I didn’t get to see Cece on King Day…

“You don’t have to feel bad about anything, Marcellus.”

I reassure him without making the mood too heavy. I try to think of something else to talk about.

“Did… much happen, while I was asleep?” So much took place in the last two weeks I can remember, I wonder what could have happened in a whole month?

Caelus:

I sense Marcellus’s sadness in his answer. I put my arm around him, hoping that helps comfort him.

((I’ll try to help you feel better, if I can.))

He says that he missed me.

((I’ll try not to go anywhere anytime soon…)) Though it’s hard to make any promises here… ((How long was I asleep?)) [Thinks it’s probably been one or two days tops]

I try to ignore the awful sounds coming from behind me… probably just one of Michael’s other experiments, and I’m just grateful he’s not doing anything bad to me or Marcellus…

Marcellus acts a little strangely when I bring up Cece… He says they’re not friends but not hostile… Does he have a crush on her? ;O

“Oh really… you sound a little nervous, you know?” I smile and gently tease him.

Caelus:

I don’t really understand the reason Marcellus gives for not being green anymore, but he doesn’t seem upset about it, so it must be fine. Although he did mention something about being poisoned.

“Are you ok now?” I ask concerned.

Michael says it’s good to ‘see me whole’. I think that’s a good thing? Really though I’m just surprised he’s paying me any attention at all.

“Oh, er, thanks.”

Marcellus comes over when I’m dressed, and gives me a hat to match his. He says Cece gave them to him! I’ll have to send her a message later on, on my tablet. For now, I smile and squeeze Marcellus’s shoulder in thanks.

“Are the two of you friends now?”

Hanging out with both of them together would be cool, if it’s ever allowed.

Caelus:

When I wake up in a pod, it’s not the biggest shock. I think it’s just what happens here every few days. I sense Marcellus’s mind nearby, and he seems ok (not freaking out from the pods) so I’m not alarmed. I wonder if pods give you crazy dreams, though, because that last one I remember was very strange…

I step outside, and see Dr Ra, Michael and… is that Marcellus? ;O

“Why are you white?”

He’s also wearing one of Gregorian’s hats… did he get really into fashion and try one of those ‘make-up looks’ from the store? Now I AM shocked!

Some lessens cant be taught they need to be SEEN!

Caelus:

Marcellus tells me this is real! I have no idea what’s happening, but that’s not a new feeling.

Before I can react, I get knocked back and restrained by the alien along with Marcellus.

*Survival instincts finally kick in*

This creature seems to be looking for Nala…

“We aren’t Nala… but she gave me that over there.”

I point to the ice cream maker gift she gave me.

“You can have it… if you let us go.”

I hope it at least distracts the alien enough for us to escape!

Caelus:

*Has been too depressed and lethargic to really pay attention to the drones, so did not notice the two science drones going rogue*

I’m in bed watching ‘Camp Rock’- a story about a school they used to run on a planet called ‘The Gorge’- when Marcellus, Michael and a hybrid come into my room. A moment later, a monster face appears in the vents screeching my sister’s name.

…

I must have fallen asleep, and now I’m having a Nala alien monster nightmare!

I start pinching myself, hoping it wakes me up!

Laundry Day

Caelus:

Since I figured the drones would be fine today with simple orders, I didn’t see the point in getting out of bed. I told my tablet to show me ‘happy things’, so for the last two hours, I’ve been watching ‘new release comedy movies’. I’m glad the screen is smaller than ‘movie day’, so any explosions shouldn’t cause bad injuries.

The first movie was called ‘Monty Phython; The Life of Brian’, and showed a series of humiliating events happening to a man called Brian. The fact that he was missing both eyes made me think of the guy we helped back on that planet, whatever his name was…

The one I’m watching now is called Dr Dolhyttle. I’ve not seen enough to know what it’s about yet, but the hybrid playing the main role looks a lot like Dr Ra… ;)

I haven’t found the movies all that funny so far, but at least they keep my mind distracted from… other thoughts…

At least, until Marcellus tells me that Dreg went nude in the laundry room. I sigh, maybe this drone task really is Michael torturing us…

((Do you need me to come help?))

Thinking I probably should, I roll out of bed. However, before I can get ready, the guards tell me I have to stay in my room because there’s a ‘security issue’.

((Er… what’s that about?)) I ask Marcellus, hoping it’s got nothing to do with Dreg.

Life Drones On

Caelus:

Marcellus tells me the punishment went well. I guess that’s good for him, if not for Dr Ra…

((Good job.))

He tells me he’s finishing for the day and recommends I do the same. Yeah, these drones aren’t going to decide anytime soon…

I send all of the drones a Mhy Space message with a map of where their new rooms are.

“Get some rest when you decide, good night everyone.”

I leave the drones to their head patting search, and return to my room.

Life Drones On

Caelus:

Soren thanks me, and returns the condolences. He says he’s glad Nala wasn’t cloned; I guess he must be feeling how I was a moment ago, when I thought she was. I notice him getting upset about it. Not really sure what I can say about that, I give him a light pat on the shoulder.

“Yeah, it must be a lot to process. I hope… things get better…”

Soren gives Buttercup some guarding advice. If anything, I think he could do with some parenting advice. I know he wants the babies to feel loves, but if he starts head patting too hard…

“Buttercup, why don’t you use your tablet to find out how to look after babies? If you go on the Hyahoo app and type in what you want to know, it will come up with information. That way you’ll know how to make the kids feel… extra loved…”

Buttercup nods, very serious about his new task. He carefully puts the boy back in the incubation pod, and takes a seat to start Hyahoo-searching.

Soren seems capable, so I leave the guarding to him and get all the drones to meet me in the cafeteria. Oh boy, I have a feeling this is going to take way longer than it should…

“Hi everyone. The admin hybrids have found you rooms, but… they’re double rooms, so you’re gonna have to… get into pairs…”

As the head-patting resumes in full force, I blank it out and telepathically check in with Marcellus. I see through his mind Ra tied up to a letter M… Punishments here really are strange…

((Er, how’s it going?))

Life Drones On

Caelus:

Michael tells me a hybrid can do the task. Phew, it felt rude not to offer, but if he’d said yes, that would have meant… going in his room…

He leaves Dr Ra with Marcellus. I think Marcellus will be glad to have a more soldier-like job to do than training drones and admin work. Though I don’t think there’s a standard wraith punishment for creating unauthorised baby clones, so I wonder what he’ll pick…

As I wait to see, I give my condolences to Soren.

“I’m sorry about your Father… I only hung out with him a few times, but he seemed like a cool guy.” I remember the party, where he gave me his hat. “I have his hat, if you, er, want it back..?”

I have my butterfly pin and ice cream maker to remember Nala with, but I wish I had something to remember my other brothers too…

He gives Buttercup instructions on how to look after the baby…

(Buttercup): “Buttercup is a good bodyguard, and his BFF Mushroom has already saved Dora from a kidnapping attempt, so the baby is in good hands!”

…Er, they’re not really going to leave a drone to look after them, are they? Buttercup’s one of the smarter ones, but even so… I telepathically ask the admin hybrids if they can find some suitable babysitters. They tell me they’ll contact some ‘old pros’ [Tork and Candyfloss ;)], and also let me know the drones’ room allocations are done.

((I can finish sorting out the drones if you need to… spend a lot of time with Dr Ra?)) I ask Marcellus.

Life Drones On

Caelus:

Michael seems annoyed at the drones… uh oh… Thankfully Marcellus handles it, and tells the drones to leave. I remind them of their laundry and trash duties, so they stay distracted until we can sort out their rooms. They seem sad to leave, but obey, waving goodbye to the babies as they go.

The scientist- Dr Ra, I think- tells us that Sydney got infected. I… try not to think about how that happened, since no one else was poisoned…

Luckily (if not for Michael), I get distracted when the baby boy pees on him.

…

“Do you want us to bring you a change of clothes?” I ask awkwardly, unable to look him in the face.

Before he can reply, Buttercup runs into the room and takes the baby boy from Dr Ra. Despite his size, he cradles the baby gently.

(Buttercup): “Buttercup heard him think that he did not feel loved, so Buttercup wanted to help! Buttercup will look after him!”

That’s probably not a good idea, Buttercup and the other drones can barely look after themselves.

“I’m sure you can help whoever is in charge of looking after him, thanks Buttercup.”

Caelus:

After all our talk of surviving and carrying on, I worry that Marcellus is going to get himself killed, after how he reacts. I follow him as he storms off, prepared to stop him if he tries to physically attack Michael. Though at the same time, I’m glad he’s willing to confront him. I nod at his statement that this is contemptuous. Having to see a child that was sort of Nala, but also not… would be way harder than dealing with the drones.

On our way over to the lab, I hear rumours swirling amongst the hybrids. It seems they too find the baby terrifying. I see one hybrid running around screaming about how they have to find ‘Shuggums’ to appease her. Others are looking at an app called ‘4Chow’ on their tablets, wanting to see if there’s an update from someone named Billy.

As we reach the lab, I prepare for the worst, but luckily it seems we were wrong. The baby is not Nala. I breathe a sigh of relief… only to hear an even more alarming thought from Marcellus that the baby could be Mother! Seeing Nala as a child again would be beyond strange, but she’s always been the youngest. Imagine having to raise our own Mother! ;O

Again, luckily that is not the case, as we learn that the babies are… Sydney and a female alien mixed together?

That is also very odd, though less of a personal shock.

“Why… did you make them..?” I ask, wanting to know the facts instead of any more rumours or crazy ideas.
