The Cafe & Tea Rooms are now closed for 2015. We had a lovely season and enjoyed meeting friends old and new. Look forward to seeing you in 2016!

Apple of my eye

On an island nearly devoid of trees, planting an orchard may have seemed a misguided mission. I’ll admit, my eyebrows raised when Michael first voiced his intentions. But we love apples. Good apples. And good apples are not easy to get. So several years on, and some 30 Irish heritage apple trees in, we have months and months of apples to savor and share. Apples with names that make you smile. Apples that melt in a tart or drip juice down chins. Apples with skins our children never ask to be peeled. Even the blackbirds are after these apples! We look forward to helping the orchard develop, and to feasting on the harvests for many years to come.

Lovely morning for a cup of tea with a very nice view. Please note: the Tea Rooms will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, 1st September. We will be attending a protest in Connemara over the government's decision to remove the airplane service to the Aran Islands.
