Please, no matter where you are, if you are a US citizen check your voter registration. If you live in Ohio, this blatant attempt at voter suppression will be final on 7/22/24. This number represents 1 in every 50 registered voters in the state. They are- allegedly- purging everyone who has been inactive for 4 years. Which in of itself is farcical, because plenty of people only vote every 4 years in the Presidential. But I have seen people say they’ve been incredibly active and voted in the most recent local elections and still been purged. Please, do not delay in checking. If you have been removed, register again right away or you will not have a vote in November.

The weekend. Same as any other day now really, with less work. With all the time in the flat I’m trying to do the things I’ve wanted to do but been putting off: I’m propagating tomatoes and herbs, sorting through these old copies of LRB and other magazines and papers, I’m going to complete that half-finished human rights law short course, tidy my kitchen cupboards and make pasta with the 00 flour that is still sat in a jar. All good time-filling things. But it’s also enough to just sit in the sun for an hour with a beer and a book, isn’t it
