Ulmist Inquisitors:

"Evil lurks everywhere. With our minds, we will unearth it, we will plumb its depths, and we will annihilate it." With those words, the psychically gifted priest Ulmed founded the Ulmist Inquisition, an order of psionic inquisitors that seeks to uncover and extinguish the wickedness lurking deep in people's hearts. From the depraved city of Malitain on the Material Plane, the inquisition sends its members throughout the multiverse seeking to thwart the work of malevolent cults, reality-defying horrors, and the evil inherent to mortals. Sects of the inquisition exist within the Domains of Dread, working either in hidden cabals or infiltrating other faiths, such as the Church of Ezra.

The Ulmist Inquisition is organized into three orders named for Ulmed's companions: the Order of Cosima, the Order of Ansel, and the Order of Tristian. Each order specializes in a different psionic power, and each bears a different symbol on its coat of arms. Some inquisitors entertain friendly rivalries with their fellows from other orders, but most put aside their grudges—at least temporarily—to work together against evil.

Inquisitor of the Tome: The Order of Tristian harnesses the powers that come from careful study and observation rather than innate magic or honed muscle. They use telekinetic force to alter the environment, entrap their enemies, and destroy evildoers. As the inquisition's scholars, they represent themselves with a tome.

Info: Vampires sometimes turn mortal servants unworthy of the gift of vampirism into skeletal soldiers. Known as Strahd Skeletons (in recognition of the lord of Barovia who first created them) these silent, capable Undead soldiers wield vampiric blades. Strahd Skeletons that whet their blades in blood often carry their weapons back to their Vampire lords. Tales disagree on whether Vampires can feed from these bloody blades or merely revel in the sacrifice.

Mind Swap (Recharge 6). Intelligence Saving Throw: DC 18, one Humanoid the Yithian can see within 5 feet. Failure: The target is possessed by the Yithian; the Yithian disappears, and the target is Incapacitated and loses control of its body. The Yithian now controls the body; the target has no awareness of the Yithian's actions. The Yithian can't be targeted by any attack, spell, or other effect. The Yithian's game statistics are the same, except it uses the possessed target's Speed and Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution modifiers. It knows everything the target knew.

The possession lasts until the body drops to 0 Hit Points or the Yithian leaves as a Bonus Action. When the possession ends, the Yithian returns to its body, which appears within 5 feet of the target. The target is Stunned for 1 minute by alien memories, and it is immune to this Yithian's Mind Swap for 24 hours. Success: The target is immune to Mind Swap for 24 hours.

Info: Yithians are cosmos-traveling scholars with distinctive, conical bodies and four limbs that end in pincers, sensory structures, and flute-like communication organs. They search for secrets to add to their vast libraries, conducting research by swapping minds with the inhabitants of other worlds—sometimes indefinitely. When a Yithian swaps minds with a creature, it traps its victim's mind in the Yithian's body, which it teleports to its unfathomable, alien home world.

Info: Loup Garou are powerful lycanthropes capable of transforming into hulking Dire Wolves. They actively seek to spread the curse of lycanthropy, creating packs of subservient Werewolves that can reduce communities to ruins and ravage whole regions. The strain of lycanthropy spread by a Loup Garou is harder to cure than typical varieties. Only slaying a Loup Garou can free the monster's victims from their affliction.

Info: Relentless Killers: Relentless Killers are fiend-twisted maniacs that arise from mortals who make pacts with nefarious forces. Such killers' powers vary depending on their obsessions and the source of their powers.

Aside from their lethal blades, Dullahans terrorize foes with their terrifying wails and by throwing the flame-wreathed skulls of past victims. Info: Bizarre beings that profanely unite features of alien insects and otherworldly fungus, Mi-go bend their unfathomable intellects toward colonizing worlds and controlling the inhabitants. They work with bizarre precision, learning all they can about how other creatures think and define identity. To this end, Mi-go extract creatures' brains for research and experimentation. Occasionally they swap brains between individuals, or they place stolen brains into the bodies of radically different creatures, then observe the results from afar.

Mi-go aren't impeded by light, but they prefer the dark. They typically lurk in secluded caverns and amid remote heights.

Info: When a soul becomes trapped within its corpse, its bitterness can reanimate its body, creating a Jiangshi. These vengeful dead stalk their descendants, sowing terror and taking retribution for the slights or neglected burial rites that led to their cursed resurrections. Rigor mortis notoriously afflicts the limbs of Jiangshi, causing them to hold their arms rigidly and to walk with a stiff gait. This, along with their flight, leads many to call them hopping Vampires.

By day, Jiangshi lurk within tombs or hidden ruins to avoid attention from the living. At night, they emerge to drain the life from those who dare wander in darkness. A Humanoid killed by a Jiangshi rises as a life-hungry corpse that, if given the chance to slake its thirst, might also turn into Jiangshi.

Reactions

Bloodthirsty Slash. Trigger: A Bloodied creature the Nosferatu can see within 40 feet takes damage. Response: The Nosferatu moves up to its Speed without provoking Opportunity Attacks and makes a Claw attack against the triggering creature.

Info: Nosferatu are vicious, feral hunters cursed with a primal offshoot of the curse of vampirism. These ravenous, graceless predators stalk the night, desperately seeking blood and barely remembered comforts of life.

Nosferatu feed on anything with blood. Heaps of mutilated rats, stables turned into slaughterhouses, and fields covered in massacred livestock might mark a Nosferatu's presence. Nosferatu lurk in forgotten places scoured of the living, such as charnel caves, cursed ruins, and desecrated barrow mounds.

For a few moments after feeding, Nosferatu become lucid enough to recollect glimpses of their past lives. Even in these instances, though, they remain duplicitous schemers.
