at the bar in episode 5, the main cast finding out you are the youngest in the circus, at only twenty years old.

pomni just kinda.. awkwardly sits there. she stares at you for a maximum of three seconds, before taking a sip of her drink, avoiding eye contact. she at least assumed you were her age, let alone five years younger.
“.. nothing?” you ask, patiently waiting for a response.
“.. noooo.” her voice has a slight edge to it. the end of the word is extended, trailing off as she finished. almost like if she says the wrong thing, she might explode.
unfortunately for both of you, the conversation never picks itself back up again.
jax laughs. a full belly laugh, at that. he pictured you around the same age as pomni, definitely not younger. he wipes a fake tear off of his face and leans on the bar; he places his hand on his chin.
“how does it feel to be the baby of the circus?” he squints his eyes, ready to see your annoyance at the statement.
“oh, shut up.” although his ‘joke’ was not worthy of a response, you gave him one anyway.
he proceeded to baby you, talk incredibly condescendingly, and pronounce his words with the letter ‘w’ instead of the letter ‘r’. this ended up being a very long and painful chat with him.
ragatha’s eyes physically widen, and she jumps up a little. you freeze, shocked at the sudden and animated reaction. she looks around, possibly more awkwardly than pomni (if that’s even possible).
“are you.. okay?” you ask her concerningly. she rubs the back of her neck and waves her hand back and forth.
“i’m fine!” she immediately stops both of her gestures. her eyes move from side to side. “there’s nothing wrong with it, of course! i just wasn’t expecting it-“ she cuts herself off to see how you’re reacting to this. according to ragatha, not very well. she pulls her hair down and shuts her eyes in embarrassment.
“i’ll stop talking!” she says quite bluntly, her southern twang seeping through. you just shrug it off, finding it quite adorable. she didn’t stop talking. she just changed the subject to the adventure everyone had a couple days ago.
zooble, quite frankly, couldn’t care less. they just quietly continue doing their bartender tasks, throwing together a drink for themself.
“i kinda figured you were the youngest.” there was a slight smirk on their mouth (if they had one, anyway) but other than that, they didn’t care. they were just happy they weren’t the youngest anymore, considering jax wouldn’t shut up about it.
“oh,” you said, in an underwhelmed tone.
“yeah, that’s it then i guess.”
gangle puts her pen down on top of her sketchbook in surprise. she looks at you, almost in an examining way. she opens her mouth to ask you something.
“really?” is all she says. you nod slowly.
“do you not believe me?” you ask, a slight chuckle coming from your lips. she notices your reaction almost instantly, and immediately hides her face in her sketchbook.
“w-wait! n-no! i didn’t mean it like that!!” she exclaims. “i just wasn’t expecting it.” her mask still wasn’t in sight.
you notice her discomfort and try to change the subject. it works. the conversation goes back on track.
kinger (inside the dimly lit bar) immediately starts to act like your dad. he begins to comfort you, realising how much worse your experience must be considering your age.
“oh wow. i know this must be hard for you, right? being the youngest and all.” you were taken aback right away. kinger doesn’t usually enter this version of himself, but when he does, you are incredibly appreciative of it.
“oh! uh- yeah. i guess.” you just awkwardly smiled.
“you’ve adjusted incredibly well, though. i’ve never seen anything like it.”
the next day, he can’t seem to remember having this conversation.
caine simply completely ignores you and interrupts you. he starts to rant about how zooble doesn’t show up to the adventures anymore, and how he started to learn to draw other bugs rather than just bees.
“bees are still my favourite of course! but have you ever seen a butterfly? did you know every butterfly has a unique wing pattern?” he says excitedly. he just sat there, impatiently waiting for a response.
good on you, because that made his entire day.
