transmen w/ complete androgen insensitivity - presentation
Hi! If you are reading this, Iām a person with Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome that has a male gender identity. Therefore, I identify as a guy! And currently Iām figuring out my own ftm transition.Ā
CAIS is a condition in which as the name says, there is a total or almost total insensitivity to androgen because the Androgen Receptor doesnāt work (there is a mutation). So, a CAIS person is born with XY chromosomes but since lacks of androgens, the fetus cannot masculinize properly. So, organs like uterus, fallopian tubes etc. donāt develope and the body canāt menstruate but reproduces a female apparatus. Testicles are under skin and since canāt develop properly, testosterone (from testicles) aromatise in estrogen.
The majority of people with CAIS identify as women. Still, since I did some research, I found out that there are persons with CAIS like me that identify as men.
I decided to create this blog to spread awareness about us and maybe, to gather people like me!
It is not easy to feel this way because, of course, there is no cure for this condition right now, so, no possibility to have the proper effects of Testosterone.
Anyhow, if someone like me is reading this: you are valid, there are people like us, and we can do something about this :D
Anyway, sorry for my english.
And thank to everybody who read this.
If you want to know more, this guy did an amazing job reporting about this:Ā
