I wake up with the light barely piercing through the curtains. I yawn, quietly stretch and adjust to the room before me. it's my quarters, with painted walls just pink enough to differentiate from white, and furniture so white it almost glows in the sunlight.
I get out of bed slowly, and make it to the window with delicate steps. on the way I stumble over a small pile of clothes. looks like a t-shirt, a tank top, and a pair of pink polka dotted panties. I pay it no mind and move on to opening the curtains. I look outside and for the first time in a long time, there's nobody outside waiting for me to awake.
at this realization, I smile so wide and so bright that my eyes can barely stay open. why, of course! I almost forgot what day it is today.
I race over to my closet and quickly look through the dresses I have hung up. I stop on a beautiful baby blue gown with a white bow tied to the back. it's perfect! I hop and skip around my room, excited yet anxious as I finish getting dressed. eventually I finish getting ready and check the time. 9:59, right on que! I approach my bedroom door and wait...||
||...the clock strikes 10:00. a knock is heard on the princess' door. she opens the door to find her head maid (her favorite maid) ready with a tray of towels, clean clothes, and various washing utensils.
"oh, excuse me princess. I see you've already gotten dressed,"
"yes ma'am and I'm ready!"
the maid sets aside her tray and helps the princess through the castle down to the ballroom. the princess enters with her eyes covered by her maid's hands. once they reach the room's center, the maid moves her hands and the princess opens her eyes.
she hears a loud "surprise!" as she sees the room full of all the castle staff. they've come together with gifts, divine deserts, magical potions, and one large sign that simply says,
